UT Austin Class of 2028 Official Thread

what major?

psychology

Kinsolving and Jester both have dining halls in the building so it makes it easy to get to meals. Looks like Kins is closer to the psychology building though.

Do they fact check appeals?

I got accepted into Mccombs as Business major. What housing dorm would be the best for location?

Has anyone heard back from Engineering Honors?

We are still waiting for engineering honors and so do at least 5 kids in our high school. All still have ā€œdeferredā€ status in Honors portal.

Jester is right there…

Waiting here too!

OOS student here, my Honors tab must have been updated in the past day or two because it no longer says deferred. That being said, it also doesn’t say what I was hoping it would… So if yours isn’t updated yet I’d take that as a good sign. I’ll also note that I am yet to receive an email about my portal being updated so it was probably pretty recent.

Thanks for the heads up! My son’s just updated to denied. :pensive:

Is your son public schooled?

So sorry. Does that mean no merit scholarship? Do you know if there still could be other merit awards?

This is the same question I was wondering. The closest thing I could find was on a College Confidential thread from 2013. Idk where they got their information from and obviously things can change in 10 years, but it’s the only answer I’ve been able to find.

ā€œI know this is a pretty old question but I might as well answer it:
ā€œDo you have to be picked for honors in order to receive a scholarship?ā€
No, but UT likes to reserve most of their scholarships for honors. They get first priority as far as I know, although I don’t quite know if this applies for freshman honors as well.ā€

Note that this was in a Engineering specific thread

Yes, top 2%, 1450 (780 math). Admitted to Chem E back in December. 5.64W/5.0 4.0UW/4.0

Thanks :pray::pray::pray:

Thank you, this is good information.

My kid has a 35 ACT and 4.67W/4.0 UW with 54 DE credits and still rejected. Not sure what they are looking for. I read about another homeschooler being rejected, too, also an ECE major. I thought this was a relatively easy honors program to get into, so it’s like a gut shot.
