My son applied a few days before the priority deadline. He has not heard anything. Out of state computer sci major. GPA 4.94, SAT 1510

40 Acres is available to all undergrads applying. They will notify you if you have made it over the first hurdle. I believe the invites come out in waves. This of you who received an email requesting additional items, were you auto admit?

Wait, so you have to fill out the scholarship interest form on mystatus for forty acres to contact you? I don’t see anything about 40 acres on the interest form.

Here is what it says about 40 Acres:
How to Apply
Applying to The University of Texas at Austin via the Common App or ApplyTexas automatically submits you as a candidate for the Forty Acres Scholars Program. A standalone application is no longer required.
Only those students selected to move forward in the process will be contacted directly by the Forty Acres Scholars Program, at which point, if the student chooses to remain under consideration, there will be additional steps to complete.
- The university’s priority deadline for the 2024–25 academic year is November 1, 2023.
- The university’s final deadline to apply is December 1, 2023.
All applications submitted prior to the final December 1 deadline will be reviewed with equal merit regardless of the date they are submitted. Applying by the November 1 priority deadline is encouraged but not required to be considered for the Forty Acres Scholars Program.

My son submitted on 10/31. He was notified about the 40 Acres scholarship and asked to submit another essay last night.

My son is an auto admit. He has not heard back about major decision yet. He’s applied for engineering.

May I ask when was your son notified and when was the deadline for the essay?
I just received the email tonight informing me I made it to the next step. I am an auto admit and applied in August, but still haven’t heard back about my major.
