My son was sent the email to apply to the 40 Acres scholarship tonight as well. He is auto-admit. The deadline to submit the additional essay is Dec 18th with semi-finalists being notified mid-Jan.
Have any OOS applicants received an invitation to apply to the 40 Acres?
My son got email from 40 acres scholarship today at 5pm inviting him to submit resume and essay. He is auto admit and still waiting for decision on major.
Email did no list a prompt for the 40 acres essay. Does anyone know what the prompt is?
You had to click on it and go into the TexExs portal. It was about how you will contribute to the community etcā¦referencing your past experiences etc.
Anyone know how many are picked for this initial step, and how many are chosen for interviews?
Congrats to him! Would you consider sharing his stats?
Congrats to your son! Would you consider sharing his stats?
do you have to apply for 40 acres scholarship is there a requirement?
Anyone thinking thereās gonna be another wave this Wednesday or Thursday?
Sure, he is ranked 2nd out of very large public school, GPA 4.0 with high rigor, 13 APs, SAT 1570 (800 math), lots of ECAs with leadership roles, varsity athlete. He applied in mid-October to engineering.
According to their website and prior years threads, around 3000 students get initial invitation in November and December to apply. Some (not sure how many) are selected to interviews in January. 60 finalists get selected and notified in March/April.
Not sure, but their website is saying OOS applicants are eligible for this scholarship. Have to be US citizen, I believe.
You just have to apply to UT and they hand-pick some students and send them email inviting them to apply.
Yes, very likely. I believe they are reviewing candidates one by one sending them invitations as they go. One of my sonās classmates got his email yesterday and my son got his today. Good luck to your student.
Did you have to apply for financial aid to get it?
Do you get notified by email
This is a merit scholarship. I do not think you have to apply for financial aid to get it.
Yes, by email.
Hello! Has anyone received decision yet for CS? esp wondering about autoadmits. I heard it has been very competitive the last two years, like people with 1550+ SAT and high gpa and decent ECs getting denied (autoadmits included). If anyone has gotten their first choice CS major can you let me know your stats? What exactly are they looking for? a lot of CS related ECs? or just sounding passionate in the essay? Trying to decide if I should encourage my daughter to apply to other schools. She has selected chem E as second choice but Iām not sure if she gets rejected from CS if she still wants to attend UT. She says she does but maybe she is secretly thinking she will get CS, which she may not.
