UT Austin Class of 2028 Official Thread

Same situation here. We just paid the initial $50 deposit to secure a spot (hoping that happens?). Waiting until March decisions before final decisions.

The initial depost of $50 is what holds your spot for housing selection in June. The only thing you are delaying is Orientation sign up that starts on March 20th. There’s a possibility you might have less options or the remaining dates don’t align with your schedule. My D26 didn’t decide until early April and was able to select an Orientation Day in mid June.

Once you signed up, you can always check to see if any students drop from earlier orientation sessions.

Thank you for that email for NSS. I checked and he has no emails from that address at all : ( We realized the event last night was actually on the planner but we both missed it (the planner is almost SOLIDLY covered at this point…yikes!) He sent an email to NSS and hopes they’ll get back to him. Admissions isn’t writing back to any emails right now, at least for him. I did PM but the moderator pulled it for review, I guess. Didn’t know I could PM, but the site prompted me to.)

Anyone know when appeals usually come out??

The appeals webpage says that if you submit your appeal by March 15th, you will receive the Appeals result by April 1st.

If anybody gets a housing contract today, would you post that it came through so we others will know to be looking for it? Grateful if you will : )

My daughter just got an email with a housing contract offer. She has until 3/15 to accept it.

Yay!!! We did, too! Sigh of relief!

Did you pay the enrollment deposit?

TIA

We did.

So only after paying the enrollment deposit will a housing contract be given. We understood that making the $50 housing deposit along with having a completed housing application is sufficient to get the housing contract.

That was also my understanding. I’m curious if they paid the UT enrollment deposit and not just the housing deposit?

It seems that yes, you have to do pay the enrollment deposit and commit before you get your housing contract. I don’t know how to exactly feel about this, considering the changes to FAFSA that may impact potential students waiting for financial aid choices to commit.

My fear is that for those like me who are waiting, by the time we choose to commit to UT they’ll be out of housing considering it isn’t guaranteed.

Yes. All is paid including Housing Deposit of $300. Now… the big mama will come all too soon: TUITION. :joy:

I have an older UT grad who was torn between schools and did not commit to UT and pay the admission deposit until April 29. She put her housing deposit down when she applied to UT and got on campus housing without a problem.

did your son enroll already or still undecided between colleges?

He’s enrolled at UT. He’s going there, unless some other school he’s waiting on makes some type of offer that can’t be passed up. He’s already passing on over $100-140K at most of the schools he’s heard from already. I can’t foresee any offer that would change his mind on UT! We’ve been dreaming of it since he could dream : )
