Today at 5pm Central there will be a Zoom webinar for “Importance of New Student Orientation”. We just received a reminder email from UT.
My daughter, who also accepted admission, has not received a thing from UT via email. Neither have I. She did get the physical welcome packet in the email, but nothing since. I’ve since subscribed to the NSS email to hopefully start getting info. But she hasn’t received any invites for orientation info sessions, welcome sessions, admitted student sessions, etc. It’s very strange to hear of others who are getting information. She’s still waiting on some other admission decisions throughout March, so she’s not stressing about it. I’ve noted the March 20 date for orientation signup, she’s signing her housing contract, so I think she’s got all the mandatory stuff covered. When and if she decides that UT is where she’ll be next year, I’ll start stressing more!
Did you check student’s utexas.edu email?
How do we get to that email address?
In MyUT has access to the link or below, setting up email is also in pre-orientation task list.
I recall my son created his UT email account and chose an option to forward all emails to his personal email. I forgot about this - it’s been a while. This maybe the issue why your kids are not getting emails - they might be landing on their UT email address and never getting forwarded.
Turns out the director wrote back that he had a major typo. He meant to say DID accept admission instead of DID NOT YET. So, he is all well and good to go. Mysteriously today he got an email to be able to attend the ECE Admitted Students Day on Monday the 11th (which was full all this month and for which he was NOT on the waiting list, either, because that was full within a day). It’s only an hour and a half… so only part of the day. Could be for a different cohort.
He hasn’t set it up yet just because he wanted to make sure he didn’t botch anything while still awaiting hearing back from honors programs. So, it is safe to switch over now? Will it nix the email address he was using when he applied? We can do a forward, if so.
There is no need to wait for honors decision.
I’ll have her check. Thank you!
This is interesting. They are instituting a lot of changes in admission process starting next year in addition to bringing SAT/ACT back. If you have children who will be applying in the next few years, I encourage to read the full article.
Did anyone’s student receive a financial aid question email from UT? My daughter briefly mentioned it to me before she had to leave for an errand, but it sounds like it was asking again for our Adjusted Gross Income and her Student Aid Index. My understanding is the SAI comes from Fafsa. I just went and logged into my Fafsa profile and still see the application as ‘Form Submitted’ (as of Jan 3) and isn’t complete yet. So I’ve clicked everywhere but don’t see the SAI yet.
Am I the only one? Have others received their SAI yet?
Yes, I got the email like a week ago asking for that info. My brother got his SAI in an email. Mine says it can’t be calculated. The SAI was only listed on the email that came to the student, not on the FAFSA page.
My daughter also received the Financial Aid email from UT today. Her Fafsa profile says the same thing yours says- and we couldn’t find SAI either. We filled out the UT questions about AGI but left SAI blank.
Anyone know about the Welcome to Texas event? Any difference between this and the other admitted student days?
Has any Canfield students heard about scholarships yet? I know it said you would be notified by March 15.
SAI was on email my son received when he submitted FAFSA. We also received the form from UT a few days ago asking for AGI and SAI.
Welcome to Texas is by invitation to a selected group of the admitted class. The regular student admitted days are not related. Dates will go out for those and students will attend as their schedule allows.
It passed mid March. I haven’t heard anything for merit scholarship. Anyone heard? Last week was spring break, but university staff should have been working, right?
