someone reported their daughter got ECE admission on the FB page!
Thanks so much for the update. Fingers crossed for more tomorrow and good luck to all!!!
on texadmissions website, there is an update that there was a small batch of decisions released on Dec 11. I hope this is not it for December batch. âWhen might I receive my UT-Austin major decision? Does UT have rolling admissions for freshman?â â Tex Admissions
Thanks for sharing⊠going by that page; looks like that might be it for now in December unless they release some next week.
Considering how unpredictable the timing of UT admissions releases is, if we donât hear anything by this Friday night, I would assume no more significant releases until mid-January.
Thatâs sad! I was really looking forward to some movement.
Definitely call them if there is a question. There was one student (not one I worked with) who had a slightly different name on her application than her test scores and it was never correlated with the account. Went to appeal and still denied.
One of my students received the 40 A scholarship (chose another school though), if he gets to semi-finalist stage and you want to chat, feel free to message me. Three students attend and are 40A scholars right now and I can ask them questions too.
are you sure I would expect some tonight?
Until a couple of years ago, any student could apply directly on the Texas Exes website. But in 21 or 22, Texas Exes had around 7 finalists who were not admitted to the school. So UT opted to have admissions winnow out applicants. I donât like this way as much, but thatâs just me. I have some students who UT admissions would probably think wanted Ivy but who would choose UT if they could be considered for a big scholarship like 40A. The last student I had apply to 40A got it. I think there were 19 total students who were awarded the scholarship, but UT invited more than that. They had rounds of invitations, and students had about 10 (?) days to respond. Then they asked the next round. In each round till the end, a small number of students declined.
do you think there will be a wave of admissons today for OOS. I know they did a drop this week last year.
I think there could be selective admissions today, especially for students who UT thinks may be aspirational. A couple of years ago, a department head called a studentâs cell directly to let them know of their honors acceptance. Student heard from Plan II and another honors program on Thursday and Friday of this week. But UT admissions is like Texas weather. Consistently different and not exactly forthcoming on patterns or delivery.
Thank you. But what is weird is that nonhonor OOS students found out last week. I have a very niche major wondering if that has an impact. Are you a college counselor?
haha very true about the weather! but hoping for today
This wait is very nerve racking
At this exact moment, that would be yes. If I donât have any teeth left by Monday from a slow but persistent clench around this time of year, I may reconsider.
My son has been invited to apply for the 40A scholarship. Do you have any advice on how to approach the essay they have to submit? What are the standout qualities of the students who youâve worked with that made it to the semifinalist round?
I think they may release some more decisions either tonight or Friday night. After that, probably nothing until mid-January.
Does the 40 acres invitation go out to everyone, or is it more selective? If it is more selective, does the invitation have a recent correlation to admission?
Good to know. Do you know what time they usually release at night?
