UT Austin Class of 2028 Official Thread

Hello - my daughter just got an email that she was selected to apply for the Forty Acres Scholars program. She has yet to even hear back if she was accepted - does this mean she is going to be accepted? Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks!

If you don’t mind sharing - are you instate or OOS, major and stats (if comfortable)

when did she apply to UT?

before November 1

Congratulations to her being invited to apply to this scholarship! This is a great opportunity. Did she get the email today? I thought the deadline to apply to 40 acres was Dec 18 (this was a deadline my son and some of his classmates were given when they received their invitations to apply in early December). What deadline was she given to submit her application to 40 acres?
For your admission question, I feel she is most likely going to be admitted. A year ago or so, 40 acres changed their process after 7 of their finalists were not admitted to UT. They now ask UT admissions to choose candidates for their considerations and 40 acres sends them invitations and then choose about 120 semifinalists and then 60 finalists. So, my thoughts that the kids who received invitations are probably going to be admitted to UT. However, please don’t hold me to this. I am just a parent and these are my thoughts. I do not have intimate knowledge of the process.

Thanks for sharing. Good luck to her!

How did you learn about the 40 acres process so well? I’ve never seen anything like this

My daughter received an invitation to apply for the scholarship and it included a website link with all of the information.

This is a collection of information from 40-acre website, last year threads here and on reddit and various consultants’ websites. About 60 finalists go to finalists’ weekend and then only 12 or 15 scholars get the scholarship. I understand semifinalists are selected based on application (academics, ECAs, essay, etc), then they select finalists based on interview but have no idea how they select scholars out of all the finalists. Anyone knows?

ok i know they release decisions on february 1 but is there a specific time it happens? do they release them like as soon as it turns feb 1, is it scattered throughout the day, or like a specific time?

usually in the evening but UT isn’t consistent. Also, admissions come out in waves so you may get a decision earlier in mid-January or a few days before Feb 1st. I think most decisions come out on the 30th or 31st of Jan, so I would check it then. Very few come out in February (only fine arts, architecture, and intl do I think)

Friends, do we need to send in mid-year transcripts for Early/priority applicants? Are they required by UT? thank you!

Possible. The earliest January release in previous years was January 10.

I should add it was a small batch of decisions at that time. Most kids got their decisions on January 30, I believe.
