UT Austin Class of 2029 Official Thread

I forgot I had taken this during an online info session on McCombs last Spring.

Those stats should have an asterisk as those test averages were during TO era. Only the highest scores were submitted. I would suggest a more accurate reflection may be looking at the stats from say 2019 when it was test required as it is now.

They do have an asterisk indicating that…

It is December! All the apps are now in. Wonder how many thousands they got this year.

For the EAs: 45 more days to go…..hoping for less but digging in for the last.long.stretch. Like watching paint dry.

The wait is killing me. Some days I’m confident he’ll get in. Other days I’m sure he’ll get rejected. People keep asking and I keep saying “January 15th” over and over. Meanwhile we just took a dorm tour at the maroon school and he’s talking about living with his friends there. I wish we could know one way or the other before Christmas because it would make gift buying easy…orange or maroon!

Same here. The wait, uncertainty, is excruciating !

Not sure if we’ll hear back this week.
Most schools will be sending out decisions next week (i.e. mid-December) !

Just got an email today for my D25. “Your application to The University of Texas at Austin was among a select few identified for consideration for the prestigious Forty Acres Scholars Program”. Admission status is not changed in the My Status portal. Is this a positive sign or a generic email and nothing much to read into it? Thanks

Daughter and 3 of her schoolmates got the same email on Nov 2nd week and the due date to submit resume and essay were on Nov26th. I believe they give about 2 weeks to submit. As far as the admission to UT goes I wouldn’t think too much on it as the same Fort acres email did say “Please note, applying for the Forty Acres Scholars Program does not guarantee or influence your admission to UT Austin”.

Congratulations to your daughter for getting through the first step, what major did she apply to? Mine applied to CS

Thanks.Applied to Psychology Major. Not an Auto Admit because of the highly competitive High School. Even though her GPA is 5.73, she is just at the bottom of the top 10% rank. All the best to the students who made it through the first step. She also applied somewhat late on Oct15th. Looks like waves in November and December for this 40 Acres.

Has anyone checked their Registration Information Sheet to see what it says? Previously was thought to be portal astrology. My daughter’s shows her as a Freshman and her first choice major as her major. Hopefully it’s a good sign!

Nope. Auto admit here and says Bad Data. What is her major?

My son got the same message today but at least a couple of his friends didn’t. Congrats, it’s a good sign!

Where is the registration information sheet??? Are you in state?

Her major is CS, in state, not auto admit (top 8%)
You can find it in the my UT portal (not my status) on the left hand side is navigation bar and it will say RIS

How do you find your portal. I only see my status

Found it. I can sign in but it says bad data

Does it show a fee owing ($200?) under “What I Owe?” Last year, this was the other component of the Portal Astrology, when an admission was pending. Both of my twins are auto admits, and their My Status has for a couple months now said they qualify for admission, but that their application is still being considered for their major. My son previously took an On Ramps course and was already in their registration system. As such, since he was auto admitted, his RIS says Freshman and lists his major as his first choice (Business Administration / Unspecified Business (Freshman). My daughter did not do On Ramps and was not already in the system, so when I try to sign on the RIS link after logging into her My Status page, I get Bad 1000 Data.

Mine is auto and was previously in their system thru UTHS.

We currently show bad1000data and nothing in WIO. Keep an eye out through the day.

Many reported the glitches in the hours before a wave where the wave came out like 5pm, sometimes 7pm. But many also never got the glitches and got in too and one even got the RIS glitch but ended up capped so nothing we see has ever shown a definite answer….but hopefully if we see more reports in the RIS/WIO it might be a sign of “movement” in their system and maybe more unannounced waves coming. Fingers crossed.
