UT Austin Class of 2029 Official Thread

And before anyone freaks out, they tend to be school-even major- specific. And it doesn’t prove the opposite. So it might not even be your major that is sending a few out, and even if it is, plenty of great admits hear in January.

I was thinking maybe they would revamp it but then unannounced spring transfer waves came out like both the past 2 weeks and their advertised date is mid-Decmber where ours is 1/15 on the website. So that makes me think they havent changed their ways with regard to waves, very small ones with no discernible pattern.

Will they email when they’ve updated the portal to reflect a decision? Or is the portal the only place that is updated?

The student gets an email that says “there is an update to your portal.”

I guess I was unaware that Texas accepted in waves. What I remembered from two years ago was that it seemed like everyone at my older son’s high school heard on the same day. But maybe I was just unaware since it seems they do. Certainly a whole bunch of them do hear altogether in January.

Yes the biggest group last year by far if you look in the 2028 cc forum was 2/1 (the old priority date for last year) but there were waves 11/30, 12/11, 1/13, and 1/20 where all the parents were comparing notes on what major, instate/oos/auto, stats, portal astrology…but no apparent pattern or reason in each ever manifested itself.

Is anyone in “Under Review” state for “High School Rank”? DS is OOS and high school does not rank. Counselor submitted an explanation more than 3 weeks back.

If anyone is/was in the same state, would appreciate some input. TIA.

Good luck everyone.

Longhorn Nation is amazing and the alumni network is strong.

Even my D24 (who’s a freshman at Rice) is a supporter of Longhorn Nation!

I think the status for most people here is “You’ve met our Early Action application deadline.”
We’re all hoping it will soon change to “Congratulations …”

No, and I don’t understand why it’s all greyed out-- UT is the only school for which I haven’t been able to source testing information.

UT is soooo secretive about their testing data and even about the number of students in each major sometimes. The shift from test optional to test required does make prior data almost meaningless though.
