Looks like 40 acres scholorship invitation email went through for many students yesterday, saw posts on reddit, mostly RD students and some EA students as well as per Reddit
Yes mine got one! He was EA submitted 8/1/24. First in, last out of the pile I guess but better late than never.

I saw that 40 acres invitation wave before, maybe earlier was for EA and this wave is EA + RD combined? UT Austin needs to do a better job handling admission and 40 Acres.
Is 40 Acres for in-state only?
No. The TexasEx website lists past years winners both in state and oos (but no internationals shown so it may be US students only).
Did everyone get the “Take a virtual trip to UT Austin” email today?

Any guesses on whether there is a wave of acceptances today? Or do they just wait and try to do a massive dump on Wednesday afternoon, and then the system crashes?
At this point I think they’ll release on the 15th. That’s my best guess.

My money is on 1/15 and a giant systemwide slowdown with inability to access MyStatus while everything loads around say 4-5pm (pure guess). 90000+ people times whatever percent were EA checking every 5 minutes is going to test their servers!

But it was 7 pm ET and then everything froze until around 8:15

Yes been there a while now - it goes to a portal where you can search for UT scholarships. Many are specific to a demographic/interest like “must be a resident of ABC county” or “must be majoring in forestry”. Many are not open to apply yet. The 40 acres is not on it, that is invite only.
