UT Austin Class of 2029 Official Thread

Yes – just confirming out of curiosity, can you search for scholarships but also successfully use the “Student log in” below and have 2 tasks [Scholarship Interest Form for Fall 2025 INCOMING FRESHMAN / ISSS Emergency Financial Aid Application] available after logging with the UT EID?

I can fill out the form for the Scholarship Interest Form. Looking online it’s for everyone who’s applied, but the incoming freshman part is throwing me off.

Anyone else with a kiddo applying for COFA? My daughter got her application and portfolio in before the EA deadline, but found out COFA students are admitted RD. Hoping it will be before Feb 15th.

A little off topic but do any of y’all have experience or feedback about the Computer science camps/programs for high schoolers they offer during the summer? My 10th grade daughter wants to do CS and just joined UT’s email list and received an email about their camps.

When he logs in to the Lasso system he sees the isss emergency financial aid application under “Tasks” but it says it is for 2024-2025 year right under the title so i dont think we are supposed to do anything with it. That task was not there a few months again when he first logged in (that I recall anyways…everything is starting to “blend” now).

My son is an oos COFA student now and got in EA during normal EA reply date. However the design school has a less intensive portfolio review. I would call the admissions Liason for the department/school within COFA and speak the them to be sure.

My daughter did 2 of them - one after sophomore year and one after junior year. The second one she received a full merit scholarship for and went for free! The first one I paid a couple thousand for. She really liked both of them and listed them both on her application- we will find out on Wednesday if she gets in!

How does he like it? I don’t ever come across that many COFA applicants, which I’m hoping might be a good thing, acceptance wise. My daughter called admissions in Nov and was told all COFA was RD, even if everything was turned in early. SUCH a long wait!

Thank you! Yes the free one is when we are on vacation and is due tomorrow so skipping that one and will maybe do the paid one, lol.

Sending all the positive energy and vibes that yours gets in!

He loves Texas. COFA is fine - he’s in the School of Design which he likes a lot. He’s a BA not a BFA. Texas has a BA in design program which lets you do other things within the university so he’s double majoring in Design and Sociology and doing the Bridging Disciplines Program for Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. So he’s got a full plate but the goal of going to Texas was to combine a great design program with a proper university. There aren’t that many tbh. Texas’ design program is quite good.

That’s great to hear! This is what drew my daughter to UT as well. She wanted to go to a non-art school and double major. We’ll see!

Fingers crossed for you both! Happy to let you know more if it works out - getting to the double major required some effort, but it worked out.

My daughter is in COFA too getting a BA (not BFA). She chose UT because it combines the full college experience with an art program. She loves her UT experience. She is also getting a BDP in Digital Media and Design. She has worked a PT job on campus that combines her interest in art and technology. With how competitive the job market is for new grads I’d recommend internships and PT jobs relevant to major. A degree is not always enough now. Good luck to your daughter!

This is what my daughter is thinking. Although in a perfect world, she would paint all day, that’s not going to pay the bills! She also is super social and wants the full college experience that an art school wouldn’t provide. Her test scores and GPA are very good, but our hope that COFA will be a little less competitive and her strong portfolio will give her an edge. I wish we didn’t have to wait until February to find out!!

166 days since my son submitted his EA app…now we are probably less than 60 hours out. Gonna be the LONGEST part of the journey.

What are y’all doing decision night? Ignoring the portal entirely until like 8pm, setting up camera to hopefully record it for posterity, having them check it every 5 minutes or leaving them alone entirely? Got anything waiting in the wings to take a photo/celebrate?

Still waiting to see the usual UT Admissions LONGHORNS REACT social media post/email. Probably coming to our inboxes any minute now.

MY DS is actually pretty chill and has a great attitude about it. He knows he will end up wherever he is suppose to and succeed wherever that is. He will open it when notified.

This too shall pass, however you want to make out of this, son does not seem to care much where he goes, I probably need to weigh the cost between his choices, I just want this to end, I wouldn’t mind a time travel to the Fools Day now.

Yes my son is very chill, he has gotten into other schools and while he would like to have UT as an option, we are not playing it up with looking or videoing. He wants me to check once he gets the email saying it’s ready.

#166 days is just to know the assigned major and not for admission to the university?

Yeah he is auto so from 8/1/24 to today is just the 166 day wait on the major. Mine wants his own time to check the portal by himself but is so “chill” about it and his dad is too. I am the only one outwardly excited and nervous and just wanting to know now!!!
