UT Austin Class of 2029 Official Thread

All the best. Just 48 more hours.

My son says he wants to set up a video for his reaction but I wasn’t thinking and scheduled an appointment for another child so I won’t even be home. I will be checking his email and Reddit and this page to see when decisions drop, but I will do my best to NOT log into his portal before he does.

I am nervously excited but also coming to realize UT may no longer be his first choice even if he does get in :frowning:

I just hope to god she doesn’t get deferred - I don’t know if I can take the torture anymore! I’d rather know one way or another.

agreed. the fact that deferred is a decision makes it even harder.

There aint enough red wine in the State of Texas for me to handle 31 more days of deferral. Kidding…maybe.

defer and EA are twin brothers, someone will be destined to experience that, lol

If deferral is an option, UGA, UF and others are examples that there will be lots of deferrals before cap. Purdue was one with clean up/down.

Anxiously waiting EA results. D25 deferred from UGA

are decisions dropping 1/15?

Ahhhhhh I know this has been rehashed so many times but any portal astrology??
Will probably get waitlisted or (likely) rejected as OOS McCombs and so much competition this year, but hoping for the best.

Reddit has reported some portal astrology - additions to the scholarship page in mystatus where you login to see your application. New “tasks” appearing. So stuff is happening. As far as we know EA decisions will drop 1/15…most likely PM after school.

Forgive me if this has been asked previously, but does anyone know what time on 1/15 decisions will be released? My daughter is anxiously awaiting her decision. My oldest is a sophomore at UT, but he got in before they changed the decision date policy and his was an unexpected December 2022 admission, so there wasn’t this set-date countdown dynamic we have now.

EA decisions only

Yes, EA. Is there a specific time? Heard last year the portal was very slow after decision drop lol

Last year decisions dropped around 7pm ET but the portal then froze until 8:15! Refreshing for over an hour was crazytown, but some people could see $200 under What I Owe on UT RIS while they were waiting. Those people (my son included) all ended up getting in

What is UT RIS? Thanks

Registration Information Sheet. If the student logs in to my.utexas.edu you can find a link for it there as well as “What I owe” (WIO). In the hours leading up to UT loading the decisions (and for some UT On Ramps kids who have an upgraded form of UTEID), the RIS might show the major and WIO might show a $200 enrollment fee. I say might as you can see from past cycle chats discussing what they call “portal astrology” that it showed up for some, not all, one kid had ECE show up in his RIS but then actually didnt get it (he was an On Ramps kid). It is all speculation other than kind of knowing info is loading and a decision might be coming out in a few hours.
