23 days since submitting the CA, no emails/no portal access. Anyone else get access yet? Common App does show UT downloaded the application 8/20. Baylor did too next day 8/21 and already have portal access and confirmed complete application. 3 others submitted same day also have portal info (including UTD today). One is very large OOS that gave portal access 8/2 (24 hours after submitting) and confirmed in review 24 hours after that..so it CAN be done. Coming up on 9/1 to get a month’s worth processed real quick here….anyone else get any info or updates?

Been 4 weeks since applying 8/1…no portal access yet. Have portal access to 4 others including 2 UT systems with acceptance letters already. Ahhhhh…….”by 9/1”….beginning to doubt it.
DS finally finished his essays and is ready to submit! His admissions rep said he could add the expanded resume later via MyStatus (portal). Anyone know if there is any reason NOT to do this…to make sure it is submitted with the application in Common App?
Data Science major will be much easier for admissions than Computer Science. Will Data Science be a CAP option?
Why do you say Data Science will be much easier for admissions than CS? I don’t think that’s true at all. I’m sure it will not be a CAP option.

It’s a growing field but it’s a combo of statistics and data science at UT. You’re right that it’s not in CLA so not guaranteed but competitive from CAP. Is there any history of how competitive the major is for admissions at other state universities like Maryland, Illinois, Purdue and Wisconsin? Their CS programs are insanely challenging for admissions.
At Purdue it’s interdisciplinary in the department of CS. Illinois has a combo of Information Science and DS. However, the question is how hard it will be to gain admission at UT vs CS and engineering. Are there enough professors to meet demand?
It just seems like a super hot major right now and a ton of kids put SDS as their second choice behind CS…it’s very small still at UT. I don’t know how competitive it is at other schools, when my DS27 graduated very few schools he looked at actually had a Data Scince bachelors degree. UNT was one. SDS at UT had not yet even started enrolling students. He ended up at Bama where he will double major CS and DS…which is easy to do because DS is interdisciplinary between CS and Math.
Great major with lots of jobs. My son is minoring in DS and wife is a stats professor.
UT has been on the cutting edge with this new major and also with all of its AI courses and certificate programs.

Has anyone received EID yet? I was at my hairdresser today and she said her daughter received hers 2 days ago and was able to fill out the housing application, but my son hasn’t received his yet. He applied first week of August.

Really?! I asked this question on Reddit and nobody had received theirs yet.
If you sent ACT scores or transcripts early, it triggered an EID generation so the info would have a file “home” I supposed. EID retrieval and pw “re”set allowed login to whatever portal is open. Housing opened yesterday (just before the email was sent). This allowed making the deposit. App Status said the “new MyStatus” wont open until 9/2, the “legacy MyStatus” is for apps prior to Fall 2025. Some with EIDs from On Ramps and UTHS have reported on FB their student’s old EID is being reused for their app also allowing housing portal access. Probably not that many though. I would expect the official EID to start coming out tomorrow or at least 9/3 after the holiday weekend. To make the housing deposit, the app must be “complete” though which I think means at least UT has the transcript in hand, maybe the SAT/ACT too since it is now required again. If you haven’t sent those yet, I would.

@sbhubbell , not sure if it was on your reddit post, but I saw a comment on one this afternoon where someone said they had received an email from UT telling them they could apply for housing. Since my hairdresser’s daughter also was able to apply for housing, we decided to search through my son’s email, and we found an email for “apply to housing” from UT in his junk folder. We had NOT received an email for UTEID yet. We clicked through the “Apply Housing” link in the email and followed the directions for “I don’t know my UTEID” to obtain the ID (which was found on the search and appears to have been already in their system from his application, I recommend against creating a new one) and then we did “forgot password.” From there we were able to submit housing application fee. We also decided to try mystatus, and he’s able to log in to that with the EID and was able to see that his application is complete and all required materials received.
This year is wonky. When my eldest applied to UT three years ago, it was not convoluted like this.
But important thing is, application materials are complete and housing application is submitted. Yay!

Yes…I am calling it the “EID backdoor”. It will probably get cutoff or changed next year. At least we should be in the first window for dorm selection (well, after honors and figs get theirs I think). This year’s freshmen who just moved in experienced drama when UT housing assigned dorm selection windows in REVERSE order….yeah, backwards. The parents in the 2028 FB group started comparing deposit timestamps and window assignments and they had to put out an email that they messed up and were going to re-do and re-send dorm assignment windows. Mistakes happen but YIKES. Glad someone called to fix get them to fix it. Hopefully ours hoes smoother. Now the big wait starts….

Hello, transcript was sent by Naviance on 8/23 and is showing on “My Documents” but does not have a checkmark on the first page. I assume that is because it is still awaiting approval by UT? Is there anything else to do or just keep being patient?

We have green check marks next to transcript and all other items and it does say “allow 7-10 business days” to process transcripts during peak times so I would assume it needs to process and get a green check mark. That is just my guess.
My son was able to sign into the portal and when doing the Common App he did not submit the optional essay and now we don’t like that it shows a red X for that but everything else is complete. Will him not doing the optional essay be bad? Nothing really impacted his HS experience, he has done very well. the only thing we could think of is he was not able to take AP Physics C, it conflicted with AP Calculus and he had to choose. He is applying to Engineering and I know they like to see Physics C if the district offers it.
Got the portal email today and student now has an EID! All green check marks so I assume that means the transcript has been reviewed? If so how long does it take to get the non-major acceptance for auto-admits? Has anyone gotten one yet?

Got in through the EID backdoor. Transcript is under review, that’s the only thing holding up the housing application. I wonder what that even means, under review?
