Deferral was only added in this morning. Before that there was only decision was Admit.
that’s just semantics, guys. the end result is the same… more waiting
Sorry but you’re wrong. UT clearly states that the notification on 1/15 may be a final decision or a
deferral.
I understand it didn’t meet your expectations, but UT has done exactly what it promised.
Semantics aside, I have two questions.
- If UT has not read more than 25,000 to 30,000 applications since Oct 15 (3 months) to make a decision, how are they sure they can read the remaining 60,000 applications in the next 30 days?
- How did they decide to read RD applications before EA applications and make a decision?
Not sure why you’re asking me, but…
I’m just tired of folks stating that UT didn’t do what they said they were going to do…when they exactly followed their promise. I’m ready for a decision, too!! But geeezzz drop it.
Not sure why you assume they haven’t read all EA apps? My gut is that they read the EA apps - let in the 5000 they wanted - and deferred the rest of EA apps until they finish their RD reads, of which they’ve obviously started.
It was not a question just to you. I couldn’t find a way to post a separate one here, so I responded to your post. I do agree with your comments. They did what they said they would do. Could they have been more transparent? Yes. but they did exactly what they said they would.
According to some letters floating around, they read 25 to 30,000 applications, of which they sent out decisions on around 5,000 admissions.
Agreed. I am not sure my DD will get a clear decision by Feb 15, 2025
I am convinced that UT Austin considered all EA applications otherwise it does not make sense they would accept some RD before EA. I will treat this as a deferral.
Why?
So 25% of 90,000 applications have been looked at so far? I smell some Bevo BS. I can’t imagine how they’ll have the other 75% done by February. They were so busy following the playoffs that they forgot to do their job.
where did you get that information?
The way I read it, it sounds like the 5000 offers that went out were 25 to 30% of the total admission offers that they’re going to give. Not that they only read 25 to 30% of applications.
Is it true that they are currently rolling admissions? Or do we all find out again on one date , Feb 15th?
No, that is incorrect.
Some decisions may be released before 2/15 but everyone will have a decision no later than 2/15.
Thoughts on whether admission status (admission or deferral) will affect 40 acres decision for interviews? I’m aware they’re different entities, but I read they’re coordinating better since the debacle a few years ago when 40 acres scholars did not get admitted to UT. Thanks.
I would have thought most of the people who got invitations to apply for 40 Acres got admitted.
