UT Austin Class of 2029 Official Thread

Has anyone heard from the college of education

I’ve watched UT Austin admissions for years and seen multiple Val’s and Sal’s NOT get their major at UT. Being this AND having high scores does not get you admitted.

2/15. Same message.

Update: We heard from 40 Acres today (semifinalist notification). The next step is a video interview. Good luck, everyone!

Congs.

Just saw that reddit altruistic-piano kid publish the same.

I heard the same, that is where the frustration came I suppose.

I could not understand the logic behind that, they are making college admission a business and asking 17 or 18 year old kids to do too much. From CS stand point of view, everyone is doing web page creating, Data Science, AI blah blah. Without a sound Data Structure, Algorithms, OS and Architecture training, I wonder how much difference AO can tell from these surface level writeups.

Or information on competitiveness of new majors in general. Do they accept a lot of people to build the major?

I’ve heard autos whose 1st choice is CS often choose math as 2nd choice. I don’t know if UT defaults autos not admitted to CS to math like it does McCombs to Econ. Math doesn’t provide a direct path to a CS job especially with the tightening of the job market. They are probably better off attending a college where they’re directly admitted to CS.

Congratulations! May I know the time stamp you received the email? Just checking to see if they sent for all at the same time or doing it in batches, thanks!

Update: Nevermind, looks like all have time stamp as same

I was wondering if any of the acceptance that have already gone out have been to the school of education

DD applied to School of Education but was deferred on 1/15. But she has a very low chance of getting in. OOS, not great SATs.

I know at least 4 education in state non- auto admitted on 1/15.

Good luck to all us!

Applied through the Common Ap, mid-year senior grades automatically posted under my documents recently.

When a midyear report (transcript) is uploaded automatically by your counselor or on request thru say parchment for the few unis that require it, i think the one upload goes to ALL the unis on your common app list. I dont think UT necessarily will do anything with it, given their workload right now.

My valedictorian son didn’t get any of his majors in 2022. Nothing guaranteed

Will AO trickle out acceptances for those “deferred to 2/15” or will they wait and release on 2/15?

no one knows

I think we have all learned in a first year of new processes we really dont know much and we should assume even less.

Check your honors tabs. My son got into Polymathic Scholars! So grateful! It will be a great fit for him I think.
