Congratulations! Looks like Canfield and Turing honors started coming out too as per reddit
For those that got into honors were you already accepted?
On Reddit yes, looks like those students got accepted to their major already. My D25 was admitted to CS on Jan 15th but hasn’t heard from honors yet. Anyone heard from CSB honors today?
Yes
Thank you for the heads up on Honors. Son was accepted in Liberal Arts Honors tonight. It was in the portal. No email alert.
Reddit has both Turing and CSB declarations
Same here, no email just saw it when reddit blew up with Canfield posts - congrats!
Does UT have a link to check monetary awards for all these honors?
With all kinds of honor news flushing out, it appears that UT may have finished selecting the UT version of best-fit 5000 students already.
She got initial invite and wrote the essay. Then got to the next round with a zoom interview. She did not move into the round where they get invited to campus. She got accepted at end of January. Hope this helps!
Where did you get this information?
intuition, feel we are second class UT citizen already, lol, that is if later son gets in.
Yes it’s making us lose excitement for UT and feel strung along. I’m happy for others that are getting in and getting honors, I just wish we would either get excited or move on. lol
High OOS tuition is good and increases revenue while dampening demand. Schools like Florida and Purdue are good OOS values.
That’s how my kid is currently feeling. She already got offered business honors at texas A&M, but has yet to hear from UT regular business. UT is slowly losing more traction every day in my home.
D25 accepted on Jan. 15 as a Government Major. Very happy. Was not an auto-admit. Still waiting on Plan II as it shows under review. Best of luck to all. Hook em!
Same here. My daughter has spectacular stats/test scores/APs/ECs/Essays etc but is narrowly out of 6%. She was deferred with others.
Since then she has gotten accepted for a higher option school with >125K scholarship/honors program etc…Right now, she is ‘may be’ for UT even if she gets it.
UT knows they will lose talented local students and they seem to be ok with it.
was he already accepted on the 15th?
Since my kid was accepted to USC, he is slowly losing interest in UT since we are still waiting and waiting and waiting for acceptance and unlikely honors programs… Sigh, what unfairness when applicants are not all treated equally eventhough they all worked hard to send in their applications and paid the application fee by the due date.
Here’s a gift article from the Houston Chronicle about the deferral debacle. I find it disingenuous that the admissions person quoted says the EA process went as planned.
My kid is auto admit, and she submitted everything in Sept. I know UT received a lot of applications, but I can’t help but think they really dropped the ball with the way they handled EA. Just my opinion..
