Does anyone have any insight into how the new UW Global Launch in London might impact waitlists? Seems like if more apply to start in London, then they would admit more for Madison. That is just my guess. Anyone have any info?
My son would def do this. Would be an amazing option!
Question for all the waitlist hopefuls⦠so usually they offer a spot and you have a week to reply. Are you thinking they would offer after 5/15 and still give a week to reply?seems crazy that they would still be pushing waitlist offers out in Juneā¦
Last yearās thread shows they were still making offers to people on the waitlist as late as June 17. They probably gave out offers later than that because they didnāt close the waitlist until July 13.
I have no inside knowledge but my guess is that Wisconsin on May 15 sees how many spots they have and makes the first wave of offers for every spot.
After a week, they see how many spots are still open, and they make another, smaller wave of offers. Rinse and repeat.
Daughter got a generic email in response to her question about waitlist timing. They said waitlist offers will start āafter May 1ā but made no mention of the Fafsa delays or new May 15 deadline, so I think itās boilerplate
Anyone still holding out hope theyāll start pulling from the waitlist sooner than May 1? Or May 15? Still checking the portal daily. Which is kind of torture.
Nah, with this yearās FAFSA mess I think there will be way too many students holding out until very late, so the first round not coming out until the week after May 15th might be more realistic.
I think youāre right about May 15.
HOWEVER, UT Knoxville, U of Washington, South Carolina, and UVA all admitted students off their waitlist last week! Weāre in the middle of maybe the craziest admissions cycle ever, so I told my son to check his email at least once a day.
University of Miami is also hitting their waitlist pretty hard.
Iām a waitlisted OOS student, my stats are all over the place since I had health issues that set me back, but I took 2 APs, 4 college courses, tons of community service, and varsity golf 4 years and captain for senior year. I really hope that the percentage for getting off the waitlist is high this year. Iām honestly a little surprised I was offered a spot since my major (psych) is super competitive here. Wisconsin has been my dream school for its culture and academics but mostly because my grandma moved to Madison in 2021. Itās so sad with the craziness of this year that countless students who put so much effort into their academics are getting denied/waitlisted everywhere. I wish the best for everyone!
Yeah, Madison is one of my top choices for its undergraduate research programs + lots of research in Computer Graphics + other topics, which I am highly interested in. I hope they accept a lot of waitlists this year. Theyāre unranked, so I assume theyāre gonna use stuff like demographics to help decide. That said, I donāt think Iāll fare too well since Iām an Asian dude planning CS from OOS(Cali too). Hopefully, most kids like me go somewhere better so I can get the chance to come to Madison off the waitlist. And hopefully, all of you guys do too!
Not accepting Madison admission. Intended CS Major for school of letter and sciences in Madison. All the best
Okay ā¦anecdotal and n of 1 here⦠butā¦daughter was waitlisted. I figure she was pretty competitive as she got into more selective schools and had assumed she would get an offer off of waitlist in May (even though weāve moved on). She had also applied for the summer study abroad program for freshman. The study abroad team contacted her yesterday and said they talked to admissions and it didnāt look like she would be getting off waitlist. So, take it for what itās worth but maybe Wisco isnāt thinking they have to go as deep as we all predict.
Well, thatās a bummer. Itās great that you and your daughter had moved on anyway though.
My son is on four waitlists, all of which are schools he would take over the ones heās been admitted to. Iāve been holding out the most hope for Wisconsin since they took such an enormous chunk of the waitlist last year, but itās also the biggest wildcard, since they took only tiny numbers in the previous two years.
Weāve paid the deposit and signed the housing contract for my DS at another school, and have started putting more focus on attending there. Wisconsin is looking farther and farther away in the rearview mirror. Not sure if my son will flip a u-turn back to Madison if they end up offeringā¦
We also put in a deposit elsewhere recently. Still holding out hope, as is our son.
Ditto. Deposit is in, but still holding out hope.
Where are you seeing/hearing this?
