Agree it was a little slow too — not much excitement in scenes where someone just doesn’t show up. Ominous waiting, I guess. I think we’re going to find out why TWD started the with Rick waking up after the initial mass attacks and destruction had already happened.
To see it unfold as in FTWD is to spend a lots of time watching confused people wonder what’s going on, but no real action. Next episode looks like its going to be more action packed, but it should be about people being resourceful, not just a city being overrun.
At the end there, did the mom get bitten or did the boyfriend intervene in time to prevent the bite? It was too dark for me to tell.
Son didn’t like the first episode of Fear. Too much family drama. I agree. Next episode will be about a more “normal” family. Asked son to give it more than two episodes, but he said if more family drama in Season 2, he’s signing off. I didn’t care much for last season of the original, and I honestly was confused by the previews during Talking Dead, as I seem to have forgotten most of the finale. Wondering if Fear will be the original’s Jump the Shark moment.
DH and I just watched the premier of “Fear” and I really liked it. I liked exploring the relationships of the characters as they slowly figure out what is happening around them. All the drama they are dealing with will be dwarfed by what is to come. I loved the suspense introduced in little scenes like driving by a park and seeing someone walking along (is that a ZOMBIE??), or the guy in the hospital bed next to nick (is that his name)…you just knew that guy was well on his way to becoming a Walker one way or another! My friend Lexi’s part was short but surely made a big impression!
What are the “Zombie Rules” of this show? If you get bit, are you gonna turn? 100% for sure? I’ve seen pictures where characters are completely covered in presumably infectious walker gore, yet they don’t turn.
It has to be a bite. (maybe broken skin?) And when someone dies, they turn, regardless.
^I hope that’s correct. I’ve been following Walking Dead on netflix, but been behind everyone here. I’ve figured out how to watch “Fear” on my kindle so hope it’s okay to join in now. I love all the zombie shows and really enjoyed the pilot of “Fear” and noticed the Johnny Depp look as well.
The opening reminded me of Shaun of the Dead, where no one pays attention to what’s happening and they all just keep changing the channel.
I prefer the “slow” zombie shows. The fast ones get me too agitated.
Okay, but we all have broken skin pretty much constantly, not to mention the more difficult lives the characters lead. And then there are the eyes and mouth that are routes for viral infection…??
I think that if you are bitten you die of the infection. Once dead you turn. If you can survive the bite (like Herschel via amputation) then you don’t turn.
