Walking Dead 2014

Along with being thin, the female walkers often are wearing dresses, skirts, jumpers, aprons, pinafores, maxi dresses, - I always found that odd.

I’ve decided to try out **crimson in bold ** for posting on this thread:

**[Color=crimson]Do you think we will see Tobias again? Will the barber shop family become regulars? Did Nick fake the mouth foaming drug seizure to stop his sister Alicia from going to undead Matt’s?

@michigangeorgia I live on the other side of the state and DH and I were talking about the skinny walkers the other night. We wondered how they keep finding people in the land of sweet tea and mac and cheese.

It was real and he was bu#$#@$ his mother…

(Warning, Last night’s (Episode 2) Spoilers at the following link)

Two reasons, that I can think of, for “skinny” walkers. First it’s easier to do wardrobe and makeup. The second is that a “big” walker would visually overshadow all of the skinny walkers. All eyes would focus on the big one…

skinny walkers: On Walking Dead, don’t they get skinnier and skinnier and eventually rather skeletal but never perish? I’ve been thinking Walkers get hungry (thinking about the Governor’s little girl) but do they ever get sated? I can’t remember a scene where that happens, but haven’t seen all the episodes. Is it possible if they get nothing to eat, eventually they perish (can’t say “die” ) due to starvation, like the zombies in 28 Days Later?

What is the etiquette here regarding episode discussion? Do we avoid any spoilers till a certain amount of time has passed after the episode airs?

I am loving Fear The Walking Dead: “When civilization ends, it ends fast”

I hope Tobias is a regular character. He’s paying attention. He’s ready for the end times.

I think Nick was faking the seizure. jmho. It will be interesting to see how his character develops. Already we see good people having to make choices on whether to save others or protect their own.

I prefer seeing the beginnings of the end times, rather than just being plunged into the middle, like in Walking Dead which is really just copying 28 Days imo

After reading the link, in Gator’s post, I see we don’t have to interpret for ourselves. Those in charge of the show do it for us.

The walkers on WD are looking more and more beat up as time goes on. Not so fresh anymore.

The nonwalkers, too.

It occurs to me we see Walkers in pieces on the ground, or entangled in something so they’re unable to move, but so long as there is an intact brain, they survive. So food must not be necessary. Right?

It seems eventually there will only be Walkers, wandering the earth in hordes, (or in pieces on the ground because they turned into skeletons through starvation and fell apart) because unless survivors get real busy reproducing, everyone “alive” will die and everyone “dead” will be a Walker.

More than a little depressing.

I am hoping that Nick’s Mom was actually bitten as I really don’t like her character. Nick does look a little like Johnny Depp. He is the real life son of Stephen Dillane, Stannis Baratheon on Game of Thrones. I agree the pilot episode was a little slow but it was nice to see how the “plague” first started and how rapidly it spread. Some of the characters so far seem a little stupid and slow. If someone with a ripped off jaw is slowly staggering toward you and they have obvious Zombie eyes then you really shouldn’t walk toward them telling them you can help. I mean, haven’t these people seen any Zombie movies - Shaun of the Dead, World War Z, Night of the Living Dead??? I’ll stick it out for a few more episodes. I have to admit, my weakness is Zombie movies/TV. I would like to think of myself as having more sophisticated tastes, but I just love Zombie stuff.

This is what I always wonder, too. I think there’s just as much possibility that people might overreact to what looks like a zombie incursion, as that they might not react enough.

I think Nick admitted that he faked the seizure when he assured his mom that he had kept his sister from leaving the house.

I’m so ambivalent about this show. I want to like it, but the focus on a not terribly interesting bunch of characters is bogging it down. I was hoping that we’d see a lot of detail about how society breaks down little by little–all the stuff that was skipped in the original series–such as a scene of some brave souls at the public utility trying to keep the electrical grid operational, or the increasing panic behind the scenes at the CDC, or even what’s happening at the White House. Instead it’s these mopey folks, flickering lights, and street riots that to my eye look like they were done on the cheap. The only element that intrigues me at this point is the thought that Travis may end up tryng to survive the apocalypse with both ex-wife and current girlfriend in tow–kind of a “New Adventure of Old Christine”, zombie -style!

I agree that Nick faked the seizure. It’s hard to get attached to him because he is not a likeable person, but maybe he will grow on me.

On a separate note regarding “skinny Zombies”,. does anyone remember the really huge Zombie who had fallen into the well on Herschel’s farm early on in TWD? I think it was one of the more disgustin scenes as I believe he split in half when they pulled him up.

[Color=crimson]**I remember the waterlogged walker. I assumed his well bloat was caused from water retention.

“I hope Tobias is a regular character. He’s paying attention. He’s ready for the end times.”

He is a visionary, I agree. But he was a little underwhelming when the situation called for action. He is going to have to attach himself to a group pretty fast, to people with a different set of skills.

Here’s another link were they compare the new FWD cast to the WD cast/characters (based on feedback from the show runner and actors). I think you’ll be surprised at who’s the most like Rick, Shane and Merle…a little bit of a spoiler, in that they give some (vague) insight into some of the characters backgrounds and how the characters may changes as the world falls apart…

I like Madison! So far she’s supermom; she bashes the Principal’s head in to save a child. Wait till someone comes after one of her own. She protects her own and as one of her students, Tobias qualifies. OTOH, did she actually give any warning to the family across the street as Nick suggested she do?

I really like the idea of a strong maternal figure as leader of the group. Gator: thanks for the link.

Who thinks there are people hidden upstairs in the barber shop?

The barber shop is why my son is willing to give the show another episode. He also thinks there’s something hidden behind the door where the daughter came from. I also would like to see what’s going on at the utility company, the government, the CDC. This is the beginning of the plague I was interested in. Hanging in there, though, too.

I really want to like this program but I’m struggling. I don’t really like any of the main characters and I don’t like the narrow focus - as others have said, I wish we could see what was happening in the newsroom, the utility company, the local government. I’m hopeful that there’s something brewing at the barber shop…but so far I’ve been disappointed.

Bleah.
