While it would be interesting to me, as well, to see how the infrastructure collapses, I like seeing the end of the world as we know it through the eyes of regular people going on about their everyday lives. That is absolutely part of the appeal of the show for me. Those that are paying attention will have a chance to survive. Those oblivious are out of luck. No one can depend on the folks in charge (the police, the government, the power plant workers) in spite of that probably being our first instinct. When does someone decide what they are seeing is real, and they better react and not wait to see what others do? It’s a pretty fascinating question to me.
[Color=crimson]I don’t think I’d bother to put out my trash cans during a zombie apocalypse!
It’s hard to believe any clothing can survive years of wandering, but that might be hard to get past the censors…
lol. I find it hard to believe that the garbage trucks are going to be picking up trash.
I was wrong. No one was hiding in the barber shop.
The troops show up-- that was interesting. Where is the greatest danger now? From those not infected or those infected?
Power is on and off – maybe we will see what is happening at the stations at some point?
I like Madison.
I’m worried about Tobias.
eta: They should have listened to Madison and left during the night. My best guess is they get put in a camp. They camp will not be a safe place.
What did Daniel mean when he told his wife, “it’s already too late.”
I looked up the cast of characters. It listed how many episodes they are in. edit: removed potential spoiler. I am bad… shame on me.
You can look if you want
I can’t remember the last time I followed a weekly tv show. It has been at least six years. Usually I stream the whole series at once. And just look up all the spoilers as I go along. This watching in real time is almost too suspenseful for me, having to wait to see what happens. Last weekend, with no episode, was pretty distressing.
Leaving the sliding door open despite knowing that there are zombies roaming the neighborhood? Typical stupid horror movie/TV show behavior – the kind that always takes me out of the moment.
I totally get that people are still putting the trash cans out. You want to believe it’s a bad dream, not really happening, and the government will get it all sorted out soon, the sick people will be quarantined etc. Its not clear to everyone that 72 hours of chaos means this is the end of civilization. Doubt it would be to me and I’ve seen TWD!
[color=crimson]Maybe they took out the trash because The Dog really was buried in the yard and finally dead neighbor Peter Dawson was wrapped in that blanket inside the trash can.
Yeah, I think the dead guy is in the trash can.
I bet the neighbor that put out the trash also had a dead body in there. It was just a vibe I got.
My kid was yelling at the tv for them to lock the door.
Finally watched Episode 3 and I’m starting to like it better. Not a fan of Travis or Madison, but I really like Daniel.
When he said “it’s already too late,” I think he realizes that the best chance of survival is to flee the city. Daniel is an independent-kind of guy and seems suspicious of outsiders, even (especially?) the police or military. A military occupation will most likely be disastrous - especially to someone who’s had experience with the violence in El Salvador.
I wonder who among the cast will be the first to get bitten? You know it’s only a matter of time… and I don’t want to peek at the spoilers.
Remember - “'Good people are the first ones to die.”
I was interested in how long it would take them to figure out they had to destroy the brain. They are already there with no big discussion or confusion.
I kept comparing the that father and daughters the governor ended up with who had no clue after years. Am I remembering that correctly?
I thought Daniel watching Travis talk Madison out of destroying Susan was a pretty important scene. He doesn’t have time to get them up to speed.
Travis is a very annoying character. He should be up to speed, he’s already participated in destroying two zombies, one of whom ate his dog, which I would be pretty upset about.
Junkie Nick is clever and I predict is going to get his family out of several scrapes. To whomever said he should be nicer to his mother and not so manipulative, that is pretty accurate to how addicts behave. The instinct to self preservation is going to come in handy.
[Color=crimson]Will Griselda get gangrene and wake up dead some morning and have Daniel’s face for breakfast or will he blow half her head off too?
Yes to the gangrene and death, but Daniel will be prepared and shift to protecting his daughter.
I think maybe he gave up on Travis when he fussed about him demonstrating the gun to Travis’s son (can’t recall his name) What parent, in that scenario, isn’t teaching the kids how to shoot?
Did that scene recall to anyone else, besides me, the lines in the book “Don’t Let’s Go To The Dogs Tonight” by Alexandra Fuller: The children were only allowed to touch the guns if all the adults were dead. For those unfamiliar with the book, Fuller was one of the children.
I am kind of loving this show.
Sneak peak for Episode 4
Episode 4 jumps ahead from Episode 3 and it is now 9 days since the end of the world as we know it.
Ugh. Just getting worse and worse. Unhappy to hear it has been renewed. I think this is a test to see how audiences will react to teenage characters. I wonder if they’re going to do a teenage storyline with Karl and the fence jumper at Alexandria in the original series. Madison reminds me of Lori. The drug addict son, what a slime ball. He has got to go. No real likable characters in this series. Going to hang in there for the next two episodes, but won’t be waiting for the return of this series.
