Dang! I’m very impressed. Be proud of yourself. Btw, I have a sibling at Notre Dame and I honestly think they offer one of the best college experiences ever! Go Irish! (That’s my two cents)

You sound accomplished–but I don’t think they do yeild protection

Thanks! Yeah I really wanted to go to Notre Dame but they haven’t given me enough financial aid yet unfortunately, although I am going to try to ask for more now that I got a scholarship from Vanderbilt.

Ok, got it. Thanks!

That sucks. I don’t know how the schools decide but, after watching videos of kids reading their admission packets , I realized that the subjective evaluation of essays seems to carry far too much weight. Go to Vanderbilt for free and do great things with all the $$$ you save!

when did Vanderbilt release decisions or they only notified those receiving full tuition packages?

D24, waitlisted for Sam Fox! She is very happy even with that!

yes, it says that!

Could you share your son’s stats /ec/story for Sam Fox. My DD got into Northwestern ED for econometrics, but younger DD is a Sam Fox wannabe.
She is hands on design / arch. Any insights would be helpful. Thanks

DS is Fashion Design and also obsessed with sculpture and jewelry design–his portfolio is primarily those things. He had high-profile internships in his intended field, took a summer course at FIT, and spent a lot of time on independent art projects in the summers. He has several other EC’s at high levels/amazing leadership roles, rigorous private school, 3.98 unweighted heavy on advanced math and physics (his other love–inexplicable!). Test optional. Not that I have any special insight to what admissions was thinking, but my guess is his portfolio was the standout? I went to art school myself (in the dinosaur age) and so I have a bit of an idea of if a portfolio is OK or not.

He did a portfolio review with Sam Fox Admissions and that was what sealed the deal for him even though he had previously been thinking Parsons or RISD. The person reviewing the portfolio was wonderful and super cool–smart, kind, insightful and truly seemed to understand & appreciate the motivations behind DS’s pieces. They had a genuine connection. So maybe your daughter should consider that route when she is ready?
