I’m assuming the upgrade I’m seeing this morning occurred overnight. The last time we had one, I switched my appearance back to “Classic CC”, but it looks like there are some nice new features. I have a new post count and status which now includes my posts in the Cafe. I double checked to make sure that was the case by searching for Ellebud using her new screen name bevhills:) It also looks like we have a “Like” button.

It will be hard for this old dog to learn all the new tricks immediately, but I bet the kids will like the new appearance.

What else are you guys finding that is new for us?

Hi 2VUO609…you are correct that this upgrade occurred overnight. Actually had a team at the office from about 10pm last night (Eastern time) until now. With a fresh coating of 3 inches of snow, they may be stuck there for a while Anyway, we do realize there is a lot to get acquainted with, though we are certainly listening to feedback from the community and will make necessary tweaks as time goes on. An alternate color scheme is already being called for by numerous members. Not yet sure about the post count differences, as we had requested to exclude posts from Cafes and High School Life (as it’s always been). Anyway, thanks for exploring and being open to the change. We do believe that these changes will be beneficial to the community in the long term, though now there is the usual resistance and sporadic technical issues that accompany such a change. Thank you for your patience :)

Background makes it harder it seems for those with older eyes. On thread listings, seems to overemphasize starter and start date of thread (which could be years ago) as opposed to date/name of most recent post.

I agree about the background color and the older eyes. I need a cheat sheet from the administrative team when they get past the initial upgrade pressures! Edit: BTW, this post didn’t change my post count, so the bump in posts must have been a one time occurrence.

It’s not just that the background is white, it’s that there is so much background. The old layout was more compressed somehow, you could see more thread titles without having to scroll down, for example. I preferred that but I’m sure my eyes will adjust a bit.

I would like to see it tightened up a bit.

Also, I run adblocker, but the huge white space on the left side must be full of ads for those who don’t. And we all have the jaunty little CC square with the mortarboard above our names. Will that turn into graphics of our choice?

I miss the red stars that marked threads that I have posted in…
And the list of boards on the left where I could quickly jump to others (ie, Colleges, Parents, Financial Aid…)
And count me in on the “I don’t like the white background…”

I just noticed the flag, like, and helpful buttons. Ugh. You realize that people change what they post, thinking of other people hitting those little buttons?

I HATE the white. It’s very painful. I too miss the boards on the left where I could jump qickly between forums. I also miss the stars. I was kind of glad to see cafe posts included. I never understood why they were excluded.

Hi everyone…this color scheme resembles the “fresh” skin of the previous format, though I hear you about the greater expanse of background. We are compiling a list of items that we will be looking at in the coming weeks, one of which will be a possible alternate background. Accessibility compliance is very important, and we don’t want to strain any eyes here (including mine). With regards to the mobile experience, that is another area where we can take a closer look. The avatars are currently defaulted to the CC logo. To update this, view your profile by clicking your username in the top right of the screen, then click the orange Edit Profile button, and then the Edit profile link. From there you can change your avatar from the menu that appears on the left. You can see that emilybee has changed hers (look at the second reply to this thread). You also mention having markers to indicate threads in which you’ve posted. That has been added to the list as well. Good idea for a quick jump menu as well. Also will add to the list. We’ll get there, everyone Thanks in advance for your patience, and for being a part of our community!
