So I pulled up good 'ole IE so I wouldn’t have to unblock from Chrome and Firefox (yes, I know this defeats the purpose). Have there ALWAYS been this many ads? Good grief how I love my adblock. I think I might donate to them just because they save me this headache every day!

I don’t like to complain but I’m really disliking this new forum. It reminds me of nothing of before, which I guess was the point but I don’t like it at all.

I’m getting accustomed to it and I’ve found an easy way for y’all to see my name easily too. Some of you are missing features I didn’t even know we had!

Can anyone help me make my waterfall vertical for the avatar, or is it destined to always be horizontal? I do like the one hour edit time. That may be my biggest like so far. Am surprised they added up all the posts I’ve made on parents cafe–EEK!

makennacompton made a comment much earlier that I want to respond to–however there is no “#XX” post to refer to.
SO GLAD I am not on face book and agree that a lot of the old timers are going to go away with the new changes because it does NOT feel private anymore. It was marginal before but the slim margin is gone.
And PLEASE be respectful enough to explain what the purpose of the changes are…

Please, why are there no numbers on posts (unlike previously), so they can be referred to instead of having to be quoted? That was a very useful feature.

Also when you type a response on a phone now, it’s covered up by the grey toolbar while you’re typing so you are typing blind for a good portion of longer messages.

This new format makes it very unfriendly for phone usage. The toolbar scrolls down to cover different parts of the message being typed, making it a constant irritant.

This may make me break free of CC, because it’s just do user unfriendly, even tho there are a lot of great folks, especially in parents cafe.

Call it river :)

I do not like the new format. The text is not as prominent.

Can someone explain the facebook feature to me? I’m not interested in my posts being shared to Facebook.

HImom, to make your waterfall vertical, I think – just guessing here – you need to go back to the original photo of the waterfall and turn it. Usually there are rounded arrows at the bottom of the photos on your computer. Click on one of those and see if it changes the orientation of the pic. Then, save it. Then, use that newly oriented pic to be your avatar.

It’s worth a try. Other than that, I have no idea.

HImom. You have to rotate the view before you upload it. However, your pic looks like a lake reflection with fog and I think it’s pretty awesome looking.

On my hand held device it is not possible any longer to go to LAST page. The choice is forward a page or backward a page once in a thread. I need to go to LAST PAGE. If I can’t do this my visits here will drop by half.

Oh, and I have waited to comment on the site while I tried it out.

I like the added edit time. I like the like button.

I miss the classic blue…oh, how I miss the classic blue. I have not found anything else I like about the change though.

Really, pretty unhappy about the whole thing.

Hey Expat–you archived the old CC format? Can you start your own? I HATE THIS!!!

Hey, when I just looked at Latest Posts, there was a “1 New” note next to this thread title (gouf’s post.) Is that a fix or did I miss it before? I don’t remember seeing that notice, last night. Yay.

All the white space and giant pictures are about forcing more clicks to see the content (user-created, free content to the owner!) and thus selling more ads and maximizing revenue. Nothing to do with an “upgrade” except to the site owner’s pocketbook.

The white background is really tough and I miss the ability to with one click go to the portion of a thread that is “unread” for me. Takes too much time to go through each thread to see where I left off.

Mamalumper–I’ve found that just clicking on the thread title when I return to the page does indeed take me to where I left off. (I’m still grumpy, but that was good to find–so I even gave in and made an avatar.)

I liked being able to look at someone’s profile and see whether they were 17 or 50…It sometimes helped me understand where they were coming from…

Pros:
I really like the “like” and “helpful” button - are they retrievable later? As in if I wanted to track down the post I marked as helpful could I do that?

Cons:
1 post #'s? really need those
2 not being able subscribe to forums and subforums
3 not being able to choose how to get email notifications - daily or weekly like before
(I really liked the immediate notification in my email WITH the content and other threads that were not of time importance to get their compiled notifications in the evening - excellent for subforums where they list the specific threads where new posts were made. This allowed me to see new useful threads of a particular forum I would otherwise not know about.)

As for the PM’s. Yeah so much for confidential - I know for a fact that my previous PM’s are showing up now not my visitor messages. Not nice

What happened to my user name? My quote marks are gone (or do you all see them, and I don’t?)

My user name is "just"aMom not "just"aMom

EDIT - weird, when I posted, the "just"aMom went away and my actual user name came up. So I guess you all see my “real” user name, and I see some weird version of it.

EDIT2: Hahahahaha, it even happened when I hand typed the version!

As Emily Latella would have said, “Never mind!”

@justamom in your post both versions of your name look the same but under your goat pix it shows "just"aMom

I really likied how you could see the hot topics and featured topics on the main page and how the yellow dots on a whole bunch of forums showed where the new posts were. Can we have that back?
