<p>I don’t mind the new site as long as I’m on my computer. I think the avatars are a fun addition. </p>
<p>However, the site is unusable for me on my iphone. I used to be able to go to the website on my phone and have everything look the same as on my computer, but now, as soon as I go to a forum, it immediately becomes some streamlined thing that takes way too much work to use. I’ve given up on cc on my phone.</p>
<p>Serious question about avatars. In my experience, avatars were used on sites so that users could easily identify who had posted. How is this feature helpful if users change avatars multiple times in one week…or one DAY? Makes the whole avatar thing pointless.</p>
<p>Also, all previous avatars still kept ON the site…which could be another waste of storage (like OLD for really deleted PMs).</p>
<p>ETA…I would suggest a limit on both PMs (as in the past…but with REAL deletion, not just deletion on the forum). And I would suggest a limit to the timeframe and number of avatar changes. Otherwise the use of avatars becomes pointless.</p>
<p>While I have plenty of gripes, I will note that the new site has only been up for a few days. Some of the problems will get fixed, and others we’ll probably get used to (especially if they are “features”). So I wouldn’t put too much stock in how much use there has been in the last couple of days.</p>
<p>@notrichenough Thank you for this feedback. We quickly recognized the need for additional enhancements for bookmark notifications. Providing some control over this is an item we also feel strongly about and are working on various solutions for a future release.</p>

<p>@MomofWildChild no, no, no… y’all didn’t drive me away. In fact I can’t drive anywhere. I’ve been stuck in Snowpocolypse 2014 down here in Atlanta! It’s been crazy! People stuck on the interstates for over 21 hours and counting! I haven’t seen my wife since 5am Tuesday morning! It’s been “cray cray” as the kids say these days! </p>

<p>More mobile site problems. The gray menu on the left pops open at random, the draft saved message covers my post so I can’t see what I am writing, and if I scroll the bars at the top and bottom freeze in place so when I scroll the screen moves but they stay where they are and cover my post. The bar at the bottom is currently coveig my post so I have know way of knowing if I am typing gibberish.</p>
<p>There’s also no way to get back to the parent cafe now without going back to the homepage. </p>

<p>We’re doing our best to prioritize all work, keeping the most critical items as our focus and accomplishing as much as possible, as quickly as possible. We’re looking at critical functionality and usability issues first, and will be reviewing and prioritizing other member input over the next few weeks.</p>

<p>Being able to permanently delete pms, particularly pesky ones that were long ago thought to be removed, would be lovely. </p>

<p>Thanks for the continual updates Doug, that goes a long way in getting us all to realize that “fixes” are coming. After that, I think we are all savvy enough to figure out how to successfully negotiate the new site. I don’t mind all the changes but the thing that seems to be annoying most posters, including myself, is the visuals - the white background and small type. I think you would hear far fewer complaints if the visuals were fixed ASAP. Doug, is that something on the table for revision?</p>
<p>I used adblock to block all the avatars. It has shrunk the amount of space that small posts take up by 50%.</p>

<p>Maybe there is an add-in that lets me modify CSS on the fly, and I can kill some of the white space.</p>

<p>I use ad block and it serves me very well – blocks around 98% of the crap – but I can still see all the avatars. </p>

<p>You see the avatars because the place where the avatar images are served from is not on the adblock filter list. You have to manually add two locations to the filter:</p>

<p>I used the FireFox debugger to strip out the 35 pixels of white space that surround each post. It makes a huge difference. Haven’t figured out how to make that persist yet, and I need to do some actual work this afternoon. ;)</p>
<p>Doug, can you clarify how FB works with CC? I want to make sure there is no way my CC posts/history show up on FB (accidentally or purposefully). </p>
<p>Is it possible for someone to copy my CC post and have it show up on FB with my real name attached (without my knowledge or consent)? </p>
<p>I have not signed up on CC (website) for FB linkage. Is this sufficient protection? Is there anything I should do to avoid linkage on my cell phone?</p>
<p>Privacy is a real concern among parents who have spent a lot of time advising or getting advice for students (both our own and others who we may have been helping along the way), and for those of us who are still here even though our young adults have graduated and moved on. There are people on my FB who are some of the <em>exact</em> people I least want to see my CC posts. We take the “Confidential” part seriously and I would hate to see more long-time CCers leave over these issues. </p>
