While We Were Sleeping - Upgrade

Thanks for the kind words, Lenitus. embarrassing how long I’ve been here! (and now I know how many actual posts–egads.) Anyway, I will try.

However, I noted on my profile it’s now counting “points.” Is this sort of the return of little green boxes, privately? what constitutes points?

FWIW, that list has been reset. Mine is empty now (though almost all the ones on my old list were ■■■■■■ who’ve long since moved on).

It’s funny, I get notifications (a red number on the little planet earth on the very top right) for threads I had subscribed to, but it’s hard to find the actual thread otherwise.

greenwitch, it doesn’t look like that for me when I click on my name in the upper right.

What are points? What is activity? and What are visits?

Nevermind. I thought you meant right there it shows, but I see it’s over on the left.

Greenwitch, you might have to go bookmark all the threads you had subscribed too.

How do you change avatars?

hayden, click on your name > edit profile (big orange button) > Change My Picture on the left

Feel like I’m at a dog show here  I have three cats, so perhaps I will change mine to one of them.

Wow…politics forum should still be gone. Probably resurrected itself in the move. That’s scary.

Red flame indicates a featured thread…and the tack icon indicates a stuck thread.

New reply notifications need improving, for sure. I have added that to our list to re-visit.

Not sure what points refers to, but my guess is a measure of engagement. See, I’m still learning this system, too, and I’ve been seeing it for the past month :)

Also added to the list to re-visit is bringing back the member join dates. I also like that feature, as well as the location feature.

Ignore list was reset? Hmm…not sure that can be salvaged. You may need to re-ignore, though, as was stated, many of those people are probably long gone anyway.

Phew…trying to keep up here. Sorry if I can’t answer every question :)

Hayden, at the top right of this screen, you’ll see your username and four icons. The icon on the far right is the options icon. Click on Preference, and it will take you to account options. On the left side of the screen, you’ll see an option for Change My Picture.

Lenitus–points are listed on a person’s profile. I had one Like and one point when I looked, so I’m guessing they’re related.

Romani, you mentioned not being able to delete a post? Did I read that correctly? You know that in the old format we never allowed deletions by members, so are you referring to something else? You can edit a post by clicking that black gear icon that appears when you hover over your post…though that window is currently set to an hour (and may be reined in a bit).

Um in the old format you could certainly delete a post as long as it was within edit time. You just hit “edit post” and then “Delete post”.

Hayden, now that I’ve shared that, I’ve twice tried to upload pics of my pooch, but it has come out distorted, so I deleted them. Not sure what that’s about. That may just be me and my ignorance of all things tech.

… As for the question about subscribed threads and accessing the control panel. These features can be found within your user profile. Click on your username in the top right of the screen to view your profile. You can click the Edit Profile button, then the edit profile link, and on the left you will see a menu that contains an option for Notification Preferences. That is where you can manage subscriptions. …

The above is for subscribed “threads”, I am talking about sub-forums subscriptions. In the previous format, you can subscribe to a list of sub-forums, and we can view all of the subscribed sub-forums in the “my control panel”. I don’t see anyway to subscribe to a sub-forum now.

Think I figured out how to send a PM. You need to go to your profile, click on iyour inbox, then click on new message.

Then you type in persons username. After a few letters it will come up with the name or several names (just like how your address book works in email.)

Thanks, RGE. I have now uploaded a (non-canine) avatar. 10 points to the first person who id’s it!

How many PMs will be allowed before we get the “PMs are full” message?
And posters start dates are on our profile page, but agree that having it by the persons’s name/avatar on a post is very helpful

Does anyone else keep getting the “Something went wrong” error?
