@moody208 – I appreciate the complexity of a major transition like this, and I’m sure that everyone involved is busting buns to deal with the multitude of issues. But now that we’re a couple of weeks into the new CC look, it would be a kindness to the community if CC would post a status update that would identify which of the requested changes (like post numbering, or bookmarking a folder, or the excessive quantity of white,…) will be dealt with, even if you aren’t sure of the timing.

@moody208, I too appreciate all the work that is going into the upgrade and there are definitely some improvements. Thank you. But there are a few items that the users all seem to unanimously agree are not desirable going forward. The lack of a definitive response on whether we will have something as simplistic as a background color change, does seem to imply that CC is taking the approach “they will get used to it.” I do think communication is important in situations like this. Just let us know what we can reasonably expect, the time frame is less important.

@arabrab and @HarvestMoon1, thanks for reaching out! We too value communication and aim at making this complex process as transparent as possible. The CC admin team is constantly listening to your feedback and feeding it back to the tech team. We are working out some aspects and will have an update for you asap. Thanks for your understanding!

I also appreciate how difficult this transition is. However, I would just like a rough estimate as to when mobile apps will be back up. I am not using the site much now as I usually only have the opportunity to access CC on an iphone.

Moody…I’m a communications specialist. Communication is a two way street. Yes, you are LISTENING, but you are not communicating. In the last five days, there have been NO status updates on the areas that members have posted concerns about. In other words, you folks are not talking at all. Your responses remind me of the canned ones I get from outsourced vendors.

Lol.

Really, all it will take will be for the mods to resign en masse unless/until the mobile apps are working. Don’t many of the mods do their moderating on their mobile devices?

Just think of CC without your volunteer mods, CC…it will be like the Wild West days of the early Internet! LOLOL

@thumper1, I can assure you these are not canned responses ;). Agree—communication is a two way street. We have listened to your feedback and will continue to do so. We are feeding it back to the team and as soon as we have news, we’ll give you an update. As currently specified, this is still work in progress. Please bear with us for a little longer. Thanks!

I have never done any moderating from a mobile device, but I don’t have an iPad. I rarely read from my iPhone, anything, much less CC. That’s just me. The mods don’t spend time talking about what devices they’re moderating from so I can’t speak for the other mods.

@notrichenough, mostly I’d like to keep avatars, have less excess white space, and have a slightly darker background than currently.

The moderators would need magnifying glasses to read this tiny font on an iPhone!

Moody, not loading on you or any mod or admin. Just saying: for those of us who have been on several update threads, there seems to be a party line about how CC loves us and values our feedback and listening and ‘thanks.’

If and when there is an info update to us: I hope someone is considering that there are many threads going. How to get the word out to all-? Not a pinned message we either find or don’t. Needs to be in our notifications or something that we can definitely notice and reach.

I think some would like to know if some of the fixes are priority and whether they are days or weeks out. Instead of love, many of us would be happier to know, eg, that a new issue cropped up in some fix and you were revisiting. That would make sense and inform us. A bit.

In the directions I posted here: <a href=“While We Were Sleeping - Upgrade - #750 by notrichenough - Parent Cafe - College Confidential Forums”>While We Were Sleeping - Upgrade - #750 by notrichenough - Parent Cafe - College Confidential Forums;

When you copy the script, before you save it to a file just change
display: none;
to
display: block;

And follow the rest of the instructions. This gives you much less white space with a light gray background, and will display the avatars.

Firefox only of course.

@lookingforward, thanks for reaching out! I totally understand your need for an update. As said, these issues are being addressed as we speak, and soon we will be able to give you that proper update. Unfortunately I don’t have an answer for you all at this moment. However, as soon as I get news from the team, I will make sure to share it with the community in a form that makes it easy to reach you all.

@moody208 " I can assure you these are not canned responses "

Ok…so can you prove that they aren’t canned responses by answering yes or no to the following?? (others can copy/past and add to this list)

1) Will the “too much white” be fixed.

2) Will posts be numbered again.

3) Will the font be changed from Arial to something with serifs?

4) Will a “quote button” be added?

If any of the above answers are yes, when will they be fixed?

@mom2collegekids, as said, unfortunately I do not have answers to these questions just yet. All these issues are being addressed by the team and we will soon provide an update. Thanks for your understanding!

Really, moody? All of these issues? Every single one?

How can you say that you don’t have answers but that they’re all being addressed? Surely SOME decisions have been made in the nearly 2 weeks since this was “upgraded”.

@moody208 - Perhaps it would be helpful if you told us how many people work on your tech team? If there aren’t very many people on the team then that could help explain why it’s taking a while for the changes to be made.

^ That’s fair.

@moody208 I can understand that these issues may not have been solved yet, but surely some decisions have been made as to whether they are worthwhile to fix/change. We’re not stupid people here. We live/work in the real world. We know when “the powers that be” are seriously working issues and when they’re being patronizing.

Are the above listed items considered worthy enough to be fixed - if it’s possible to fix them (which we all know – all are possible to fix. None of these requests are “over the top”)
