Am I missing something re: the "new" CC?

I am adjusting to the new CC format…I don’t always like it, but it’s OK. The one thing that is bugging me, though, is the removal of specific dates on older postings, specifically day/month/year replaced with month/year. There are times that I would like to know a specific date, such as researching exactly what day College X sent out their acceptances, not just “December 2013”. Is there a setting to change this? Or is this now just the way it is? I don’t like it :(

my2sunz, that has been brought up to admin for change, but we don’t know if it is a change they will make. Though it is long, you might find some support and answers (sort of!) here - this is one place in the Parent Cafe where these things are being discussed: <a href=“While We Were Sleeping - Upgrade - Parent Cafe - College Confidential Forums”>While We Were Sleeping - Upgrade - Parent Cafe - College Confidential Forums;

Try mousing over the BLUE date itself.

also, am I missing that the threads no longer highlight when you have contributed?

You on,y can “mouse over” the blue date if you are using a computer with mouse. I almost exclusively use my tablet. This does me NO good,at all.

I’m still lobbying for post numbers on each thread. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why this was NOT ported over in the change.

While we are at it, does anyone know how I can tell if a thread has any new postings (in the old format there was a yellow circle that was lit up) withouth opening the thread itself. For ex. The univ of Michigan thread

I can do it with my laptop (no mouse) by putting the cursor over it. I’m glad I read this as I didn’t know about that.

Even on my laptop, I can’t get the time stamp by putting my cursor over the date. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong.

Thank you, sylvan. Had NO clue you could do that!

I’m able to see the time stamp on my laptop.

No problem on my laptop. I’m using Firefox.

And i can’t delete anything in the post box once written. I hover endlessly and the X never appears. Have to write over it in another thread to delete. Just irritating. And why do some of us have the post time visible and others have the post date visible on our screens? Is this something one can choose?

Just tried to delete a post and it looks like you can only change it to something else. Time stamps are for today. Dates for the past. Most people can over over the date stamps and also see times. (Which is currently the only way to identify old posts.) As far as I can tell there’s much less customization. So you can’t have 40 posts on a page for example which I liked much better.

I don’t really like the pale yellow color of the bookmark. There is not enough contrast with the white background. I prefer the red in the old CC. Maybe change it to neon yellow or pale green.

I miss terribly the yellow dot that tells me a thread has new posts since my last visit. Wasting so much time opening up threads, only to find out nothing’s been added. HATE THE NEW SITE!!!

I’m not seeing any new improvements, but rather de-contenting as mentioned above. Can’t we just get the old features ^^^ back?

Confused: I can see how many new posts since I last read on a tread.

@MADad, don’t you see the little gray box to the right of each thread telling you how many posts have been added since you last visited that thread?

Thanks for the info about mousing over the date to get more specifics. Not an improvement over the old, IMHO though! I really don’t think it’s just a case of not getting used to something new…I tend to be an early adopter and this just isn’t doing it for me. I appreciate the help!

MADad, maybe that’s because nothing has been added. When I go to the main page for Parents or Parent Cafe, the list of threads show how many posts have been added since the last time I visited a thread - so I can tell whether it’s worth the bother to go to a thread - 1 new post maybe not, 15 maybe yes. The only time this doesn’t work is if I only read the thread in old CC. I have to have read the thread at least once in new format.

I would love to have post numbers back - I used to be able to direct those asking questions to a specific post where the question was already answered. Now the best I can do is link the thread and say something like, “Go to page 65 of this thread and scroll down…” ugh.
