Wondering the same thing. Does this include Biological Sciences?
no- biosciences majors (e.g. microbiology, genetics, biochemistry, biology) are not restricted, best I can tell. Health sciences majors are in a separate college (not the College of Science) and are highlighted here:
Clemson University | Health Science Degree
LMAO I was a total lurker on the Clemson board last year during the whole button gate thing- my S24 didnāt;t even apply to Clemson
Interesting. My son wants to go the pre-med route. Not sure which is better or if it matters. Currently he is a Biological Sciences major. It looks like Health Sciences actually has a pre-med major?
You can major in the fine arts and be pre-med, as long as you take the required classes that med school will require.
one can major in anything (even non-science) and still apply and be accepted to medical school, as long as the pre-reqās are (successfully) taken. Certainly, any science major is as good as another, for that purpose (e.g. biochem, biology, molecular bio, neurobio, or microbio). āHealth sciencesā and āPre-Medā majors arenāt necessary and in fact I would argue that a more specialized/classical major would be more universally recognized and would be more translatable into other career options, should med school not work out. Clemson has clubs for pre-meds as well as a specific advisory program for students interested in healthcare professions. My S25 was accepted engineering and is going to switch to business, and his (current) plan is to apply to medical school. My S23 sophomore at Clemson was a microbio major but just switched to biochem- he also wants to apply to med school. I had classmates (in med school) that were lit majors in college.
I didnāt see your response before posting - sorry for repeating what you said, which is completely accurate. Hopefully my post adds some additional context
Interesting my daughters classmate was accepted into the nursing program for fall 2025
I wouldnāt go that far
Sociology, anthropology, linguistics, computer science, physics, biology, chemistry, biochem, philosophy, religion, mathematics, economics, history, English, environmental studies, every foreign language, geography, and beyond arenāt on that list. Not sure that Clemson has all of those, but certainly will have most of them.
Thanks a lot for your response.
Did anyone get anything in mail from Clemson once accepted? I didnāt!
A couple years ago it took 20 days after acceptance date for my son to get his. Others received them a few days earlier.
You will
Thank you for this! I saw pictures on Instagram that looked like kids opening something and wondered if it applied to everyone or if we were going to get something. Knowing it might just take time is helpful!
It seems the kids in the southern states got them sooner- which makes sense I guess! Congrats to your kid on the acceptance! Super exciting and Clemson is the best!! My son (and us) love everything about it!
Thank you! Right now my son is trying to decide between Clemson and UTK. He clearly likes Clemson more, but he got a huge merit award from UTK thatās going to be hard to ignore. His Clemson letter said that he would get merit, but not until March and, even then, based on what Iāve read, the merit amounts arenāt that much so Clemson will still be a lot higher.
I have a feeling that come spring when heās trying to make a final decision heās going to have a hard time figuring out how much $$ differential that awesome Clemson feeling is worthā¦
Both wonderful options! A solid merit option would be really hard to turn down! Best of luck making the decision!
Yes, arrived today in Greenville.
one thing to keep in mind is cost of living (off campus) differences. that might amount to a few K per year.
Thatās an excellent point. Any suggestions on how to research typical off campus housing prices? For my older son, I know that parents sometimes talk about that in the parents FB page. Iāve asked to join the Clemson parents FB page a couple times as the parent of a prospective student but havenāt been let in so maybe itās only for parents of enrolled students.
I know that off campus housing is really expensive at some of the schools my S25 is looking at, but thatās mostly because we know people with kids there. I donāt know anyone with kids at Clemson so Iām not sure how to find that.
