My daughter enrolled in 2021, highest merit was $12,000, she got $10,000 (3.95 unwgpa, 33 act, business).
Was the merit offered without your daughter taking any proactive steps? (Assume yes, but would love a confirmation.)
my oldest son was accepted EA and enrolled in 2023. 3.85 UW, 4.4 weighted, 1360 SAT, no merit scholarship. I heard that the cut-off that year was 1400 SAT / 32 ACT, which was a bit higher than previous year(s)
Not at all! It was a very last minute application, didnât even apply to honors (did freshman year).
Is merit awarded automatically based on stats? My son (OOS) had similar stats to @CT2027 D - 4.0/4.7 35 ACT but no mention of merit or anything. Curious how it works at Clemson.
yes, I believe so. there may be other factors, but I believe SAT/ACT is the main one, and you donât learn of yes/no or merit amount until March, i.e. they donât signal whether or not student will or will not receive merit scholarship in the EA decision letter. Lastly, if your son was accepted with those stats, I think itâs likely they will receive some merit scholarship. Clemson isnât as high as some other public flagships - likely to be somewhere between 4-12K. **None of this is guaranteed, just my sense based on personal experience
Thanks.
Interesting. This year they told at least some people in the EA decision letter, they just donât say what it is. Example of the wording is below:
Itâs not automatic but seems to be based on gpa/rank/test scores. Itâs not âyou will receive x with these stats.â
I stand corrected and in revisiting current DS 25 letter it does say that too. I apologize for the misinformation. Based on my understanding, the award and amount are largely based on stats (test scores), with a threshold of 1400/32 as of '23.
So does that mean no merit if you went test optional?
Yes just the standard application.
If deferred, are updates due by the end of the day tomorrow? Or tonight?
It was the 10th
So tomorrow by the end of the day?
Hi Cat, if one were to submit the SRAR (due to being deferred EA Clemson) and one of the colleges within the SRAR was EA too, but isnât releasing decisions until 1/31/25, would submitting these new Fall Grades SRAR reset the âon time dateâ for the other college so to speak, of the original SRAR submission date, therefore making that second collegeâs materials look late? Sorry if I am not explaining my question well, just wondering what you mean by the last portion of your response. TIA!
My daughterâs (OOS) EA acceptance letter indicated she will receive merit. Her stats arenât as good as your sonâs, 3.96UW, 1460 SAT. From the acceptance letter: âYour record has set you apart from a strong pool of students. Therefore, we are pleased to offer you an academic scholarship. You will receive a detailed financial aid award offer, including scholarships, by the end of March 2025. To learn more about scholarship deadlines and information, please visit the Financial Aid website.â
We have wondered the same thing and been reluctant to update SRARs for that reason, because it seems nearly impossible to do a targeted update for one school only, even if done through the schoolâs portal and SRAR link. Iâd suggest self-reporting grades through another mechanism or place on the portal, e.g. uploading an unofficial transcript or even a word document that lists the updated grades
We were advised by counselor to not update the SRAR as itâs linked to other schools that havenât released decisions yet.
Honors decisions are out as of 6pm 1/10!
