It took a couple of days for us to get the portal information. Hang tight
When my D paid for the UC application, it immediately said that the application had been submitted. Unlike the Common App, it didn’t take her back to the application to hit the submit button after paying. Is that correct?
Yes.
I have a question about parental income on the UC application.
Is this information available to readers/admissions, OR is it used, like the race/ethnicity questions, for data collection only?
S25 is worried because he filled it in thinking it was mandatory, and then found out it was optional. He thinks it may hurt his chances if the readers assume he may have had more opportunities than other applicants due to a financial advantage.
If the UC’s are ‘need blind’ then I would assume this info is not part of the data set seen?
The income question on the UC application is used to determine if an applicant is eligible for application fee waivers.
Any income information utilized by the UC’s would come from the FAFSA when submitted.
I understand that is what the UC’s say about the income question on the application, but do readers/AO’s have access to that answer? I have to assume they do unless they state otherwise.
We are not submitting the FAFSA w/child #2 because #1 did not receive any aid and our circumstances, aside from 2 in college, have largely not changed much in either direction.
Since the UC’s are need blind then income information would not be available for admission purposes.
My understanding is that the readers do not have full access to the application but the AO’s do.
Thank you!
Anybody received UCSB portal link?
Last year their portal information was emailed in January.
Submitted my uc app on nov 27th, forwarded on the 28th. I have received ucd ucsd and ucb portals but haven’t heard anything from ucr, and only a confirmation email from uci. Is this normal?
Yes normal and you may not get portal information until January.
Welcome to College Confidential.
While this is the general UC thread for the class of 2029, there are also 2029 threads for each campus. You might follow those threads to see what other applicants are saying about portal notifications.
S25 who has applied to some but not all the UC’s got an email today inviting him to apply to UCR for free - curious about how many others who applied to the UC’s but not UCR or UCM got this email? Everyone? Only some?
I understand they may be trying to meet application targets, but on the other hand, some of his friends did NOT receive the email…hmmm
D25 got this, too. I wondered if it meant anything, and asked more “seasoned” people and they said it meant zero, so I moved on. If you hear differently, chime in!
Article below from the latimes. Everybody applies to the same 2 or more specifically 5 UCs in this article and then complain that UCs are very hard to get in.
We got one of these for Merced and Riverside. IDK if it means anything, we did not add either as S25 already has out of state acceptances he would go to as a better match for his major if he gets shut out of UC.
Hi, if the UC were to ask for verification of an EC or anything relating to that, would we able to see the notice in the UC application center website? (when we log in) or is strictly from email.
UC’s would notify by email, regular mail or by text message. Verifications went out in December and are due January 31.
Im worried it mightve been in my spam and gone un noticed? Do you think this is possible
