OK, I watched the last episode a day late. Did Ben come to John’s room intending to kill him or did it seem that he decided to kill him after John mentioned Eloise Hawking?

It is clear that Ben and Widmore are antagonists, and it is not clear yet which one (if either) is the “good guy.” But it is starting to seem to me that while both think they are manipulating all our Losties, they are unprepared for the wild cards that are Desmond and now Locke. Des does not seem to abide by the island’s rules, and the island seems to be claiming John in a way that Ben did not anticipate. Yes?

So I have a question about last night’s program.

When Sawyer and the group ended their time traveling, Sawyer said that it was 1974. They flashed back and forth 3 years. So when Kate and Jack et al showed up in the last scene, it would have only been 1977. How can that be unless the airplane they were one went back in time?

The airplane didn’t go back in time (as evidenced by the fact that the hydra station is very old when the plane survivors and Locke find it), but the flash that took the Oceanic 6 off the plane moved them back in time.

It looks like Locke, the pilot (Lepitus?), Sun, and Ben are still in the present time and did not go back to 1977 like Hurley, Jack, and Kate did. The pilot and “a woman” took one of the boats after the crash, and Locke saw an injured Ben.

Sayid being picked up in Sawyer’s time (1977) on the next show is interesting. Does that mean that he flashed back to 1977 when the plane went down and has just been wandering around, or was he in the present time with Locke, etc, and somehow they managed to get to 1977? (They do have both Ben and Locke with them, so it’s possible that they could figure out how to join up with the rest.) Eventually Jin and Sun need to reunite!

I watched this week’s episode, only the second one I’ve seen this year. I once loved this show but it’s become to complicated for me. And if you miss an episode, you’ll be lost yourself.

I was surprised at how anti-climactic the Sayid-Shoots-Young-Ben scene seemed. I think it’s probably because we know he’ll be back- either through time travel or island magic.

I found myself getting distracted and pondering the meanings of the characters’ neams, or their new Dharma names–Horace (after the Egyptian god Horus?) LeFleur (rebirth? the Orchid Station?)…

Except for her understated original appearance back with Desmond in the shop, I’ve found Eloise Hawking to be pretty annoying… I don’t like the mysterious know-it-all schtick.

For me, the big questions, escalating violence and wackiness are getting out of control. I miss the days of discovering the island’s magic – the hatch, Locke, Walt, Halliwax on black & white filmstrips, etc…

lspf: totally agree; my ADHD actually kicked in during last night’s episode…Eloise Hawking character actually reminds me of the female character who runs Massive Dynamics on Fringe…Wonder why? haha…

Not to hijack the thread, but fyi, Leonard Nimoy enters Fringe next Tuesday…just in time for the May 8th premiere of Star Trek…that JJ Abrams is soooo sneaky!!

Yeah last night’s episode was a disappointment - they didn’t tell us anything we hadn’t figured out 10 episodes ago. Ellie and Widmore’s kid is Faraday… yeah, we know - it doesn’t deserve the dramatic music. The one thing that was rather unexpected was the big gunfight haha.
