My son got off the SDSU waitlist yesterday for Physics. He released the spot right away to hopefully get an open spot to someone else asap. He was waitlisted at 4 schools and understands how it feels to be waiting! (he’s happily now committed to one of those schools).

my daughter was also accepted off the waitlist for public health and she accepted I do notice most people are from California for this round thoughts ?

My son got off the waitlist and didn’t tell us! Just declined without informing us because he’s committed elsewhere and is happy with that decision. He told us, “Well, I wouldn’t have been able to find housing anyway.”
It’s fine; we are also happy with his choice, even if it is a lot farther from home and a bit more expensive. I think it will be the right fit for him.

Can anyone clarify if freshman housing is guaranteed for all non-local students, including those getting off waitlist (so filling out housing application on later side). Off waitlist last week (Anthropology) and have the June 15 date to decide and may need all that time. Thx

Just fyi, a friend of my daughter’s was on the waitlist and accepted today. Don’t know the major, sorry. Was told she checked her portal every day. My daughter (poly sci) still on the wait list, but will likely reject if she ever gets off of it.

Today is the last day for SIR for the first wave. I assume that the second wave of waitlists are gonna be released tmrw?

D24 just got off waitlist this morning. Info Systems major (she might see about changing that) 4.38 unweighted test optional and strong everything else. Not sure if she will accept it.

4.2 GPA, 3 AP tests passed, several (4-5? ) AP classes, 4 yrs foreign language, 5 yrs math including Calculus B/C. He is still on the waitlist at UC Davis. This waitlist system is really stressful for everyone involved. Good luck to all the kids that are still waiting!

My S24 got off the WL this morning for CS. He will likely reject and attend CC and transfer.
I never thought stats like your sons and my daughters would result in waitlists and rejections at the UC’s. Daughter is still on WL for UCSD, Cal, CalPoly and UW. Didn’t apply to Davis, Irvine, Riverside or UCLA (should have in hindsight I guess) and SB rejected her. Both stressful, and disheartening. Best of luck…
I agree with you. The admissions system here is really a business making machine that is clearly very subjective as it is not based on anything concrete. Also, it is obvious to me that the choice of major makes a huge difference. All the engineering majors are highly competitive and near impossible to get into even with good stats. We know many kids who got into great schools because they chose ’ undeclared’ or some easy major just to get into a particular school. Also a lot of parents hire private college guidance counselors to ‘package’ their kids in a way that will get them into more schools. I can confirm that nowhere in the world, is the system so crazy fake. Good luck to your daughter and anyone still waiting for a decision.
