I’ve always thought if there is another IS wave, it will be next week. That matches up with the time frame between IS waves from last year. Fingers crossed
True, but they’re a little unpredictable this year. I don’t think there were back-to-back waves last year like we have seen this year. Saturdays are usually their big days, so hopingggg for tomorrow.
Also, what makes you say next week? The IS waves last year were 3 weeks apart, so that would put us not at next week, but the week after
That’s right, they were 19 days apart so maybe next Saturday. The only UC consistently pulling from the WL seems to be UCSB. Davis has only had one wave.
They’re all over the place this year. As @TheDianaPrince said yesterday, we can’t really predict the days going forward
Does anyone know how roommate assignments work when coming off waitlist? Everyone like has housing, but I don’t and I am not sure if I can like join a roommate group and get their housing.
I called UCLA Housing and they said you can room with others as long as you get the same dorm type and building in your housing contract offer (if I remember correctly).
You should call them yourself and see what they say though.
I think there will be another wave of IS L&S sometime within the next week. Historically most of the waitlist admits are from the IS L&S, which means that the admissions office has to spend more time going over those applications. This is likely the reason there is more time in between those admits rather than oos or intl admits ince those are historically less. But then again, it’s hard to predict especially this year with all the FAFSA delays, etc. Good luck everyone.
I’m hoping it will be tomorrow, and not sometime next week. The next IS L&S is long overdue, and it’s stressing a lot of California kids out im sure. But I think you’re right about the waves being farther apart due to the higher number of applications to review.
UCSD had very little movement on the waitlist until an hour ago and they just had what seems like a fairly large wave of admissions.
Hoping that means UCLA is getting ready for another wave as well (they’re completely independent of each other and im delusional)
I just saw a post from a college counselor on TikTok in which she shared a letter she got from UCB indicating that they are on track to meet their fall 2024 enrollment numbers given how many people accepted. They are unlikely to make many waitlist offers and likely will close waitlist soon. I hope that trend isn’t reflected with UCLA.
Omg no way Please God let this not be the case for UCLA, I’m so so scared now
I know. My heart sank for my son when I read this…I hope it’s not a trend for UCLA.
Is your son on the UCB waitlist?
No. He is in state on the UCLA waitlist. In the past years, the UC waitlists were similar in terms admits. Example, in 2021 & 2022, all UCs waitlist admits plummeted but last year there were a lot more admits across all UC schools. Therefore, I just thought that this may be a bad sign for Other UCs. Especially since UCLA traditionally takes less people off the waitlist than UCB. But as one poster said, we should all have hope until we get the final rejection letter. Maybe @Gumbymom will have more insight.
That’s my worry too. UCLA historically has admitted the least amount of students from the waitlist, so if Berkeley is already closing it… I can’t imagine what UCLA is about to send out . UCLA hasn’t done an IS wave in a while, maybe the last one was truly it.
Yes, @Gumbymom, do you have any insight on this?
Well damn, that’s not good news. On the other hand, each UC makes initial offers based on what they think will be the acceptance rate for their school, and it may be that each UC’s estimation is based on different factors for their particular school. As an example, it sounds like UCSB has admitted a lot off of their WL, so whatever they thought would be their acceptance rate was off. Hopefully that’s the case for UCLA.
In addition to that, I think the protests this year makes the UCLA situation unique. Maybe many people chose Cal over LA?
I don’t know anymore, but I think we may have just gotten our answer as to why there has been a lack of IS admits lately…
My entire gc (around 13 people) chose Berkeley over LA, something that’s been consistent for almost everyone at school. The one guy who chose LA was waitlisted by Berkeley lol, so Idk if the Berkeley waitlist is that good an indicator. With that said, the more time that goes by, the more I lose hope :,)
Lets see what tomorrow brings.
