Here’s the actual text to counselors. It doesn’t sound like all decisions are coming Wednesday. Also doesn’t sound like an ‘extended’ review was done on all apps.
The University of South Carolina will begin releasing Early Action decisions late Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 17. Students will receive an email advising them to check their USC Admissions Portal for a status update.
Decisions may include acceptances, deferrals and denials. Students admitted during Early Action are competitive applicants who present above average academic credentials. Those deferred will go through an extended review period in context with the entire applicant pool. No additional information is needed for this review process, as everything we consider is included in the application.
We will see. Middle 50% is 4.1-4.8 WGPA (SC method) from last year. I assume major choice will also be considered (like Clemson) and have a large impact on what level of stats gets you an EA acceptance. What are the limited majors at USC? S26 is Public Health.
I think the most competitive majors at South Carolina are Business, Engineering, Film/Media Arts, and Nursing.
Since this is my first post I should say my eldest was accepted for Engineering in the Nov. in-state wave and we’re waiting to hear from honors. Doesn’t seem to be a dedicated honors thread this year.
Is it a good sign if you were bombarded with emails/texts to apply to the honors program or is that just a marketing strategy that should be take with a grain of salt?
My son heard in November for instate acceptance we did receive a lot of major emails like come see what we offer and major type advertising my daughter who was deferred 2 years ago never received those
Daughter accepted to PSU, Pitt, UD (13k/year), Miami OH (25k/year) so we WERE feeling confident about USC… till we got the UTK deferral last night. UW 3.9, test optional, all the EC’s, and (I think) 4.6 SC GPA. Comm/PR major. My question is if a student is deferred, do they ever get merit once they end up being accepted in RD round? Or is a deferral a sure ‘no’ on any merit? We would need the 10k level to make this OOS school work and of course, it’s my daughter’s top choice.
Being deferred by UTK is still good as their acceptance rate is way lower than uofsc as I got accepted into the bridgeway programs yesterday and to my understanding if you get defer you’re generally not considered for main merit scholarships but they still do offer a bunch of scholarships.
