It’s boils down to how academia is run and expectations within that culture
If this was a business that people where begging to plunk down 35k to 50k a year - year in and year out they would have a process ironed out

That’s my point
It is and there is still no accountability or respect for the “customer “
I think they should limit the schools that can be applied. Everyone is applying to so many schools including my daughter. The top stat kids get in everywhere and the above average and average all get deferred and waitlisted. It’s all too much, and stressful. This should be a fun exciting time.
Also, UTK, did respond to my daughters Letter of Continued Interest. She could not have been any nicer in her response telling her she was proud of the work she is doing in and out of school and she was excited to review her application again. - However, I have a feeling she won’t be getting accepted, she has all honors and an AP class, with at 3.7 GPA, which these days is low.
It’s disheartening.
Housing is an issue, not so much for incoming freshman this past year but the year before I heard similar stories. My son is a freshman and we already signed lease for off campus housing for his next year already. So yes, they do have a housing issue. More housing units are being built but I’m not clear if those units are owned by the school, I believe they are going to be considered more of an off campus housing.
Are you in New Jersey? My daughter had the exact same comment after she sent in her letter of continued interest?
Yes, NJ - So she copied and paste… LOL!!
Ugh that is sad!
Or it was automated… ugh! So nobody read it… who knows
yes probably a script they have to go off… Oh well.
ASU was an awesome experience. I came from the East coast. Lived in dorms next to Carey School of Business. Great B school reputation. My S24 also accepted to ASU with strong merit,… back in October…and he applied same date as UTK. ASU and UTK both ranked #51 public univ. in USN&WR, so very comparable schools, but handle admissions very differently.
thank you, were in Michigan so Arizona is appealing
Well I guess no decisions today…
Did they email her after she read her Continued letter of interest? I did one but I never got an email afterwards but I’m sure your daughter will get in!
All my counselor said was he would make sure it gets added to my file to see🤣
i wish they would’ve released how many students they accepted last year. bc they’ve already accepted 17k students and that was JUST EA. how many more are they gonna accept?!? upperclassmen have already expressed that there’s far too many students in the current freshman class at about just under 7k. the chances that all the current EA students AND the RD students equal less than 7k is impossible. IMO the housing and overpopulation issues are only going to get worse.
are we certain that decisions aren’t releasing today?
With a yield rate of 26% (which is actually probably smaller for EA since this would be many of those kids “safety”…) they would need to definitely admit many more to hit their target I would think…???
nothings for certain ofc, but for EA they announced at about 5pm and released at 7pm EST. doubt they would give everyone a less than 30 minute notice
that makes me feel SO much better. I was accept EA and will be attending in the fall, but i’m so worried about the overpopulation and housing issue.
