The admissions rep responded about two hours after the email was sent. So, it seemed like maybe she read it, but who knows.
My son uploaded his LOCI directly in the portal. He addressed it to his AO but he didnât get an email. It does show up in his submitted items. Fingers crossed and all the prayers for all!
They expect 6900 to enroll and their yield rate is usually in the mid to high 20âs. So it wouldnât be outrageous for them to give out 7000-9000 more admission letters depending on how many have already confirmed enrollment from EA. They also usually have a 40% instate & 60% OOS admission split so you can pretty much estimate that theyâre gonna give out around 4800 more OOS acceptances and around 3200 more instate acceptances. So itâs definitely going to be tough this time around.
For a school charging 35+K to OOS and 20+K to Instate the least they could do is provide an accurate date and time of release of decisions. This is referred to as no accountability.
This!!
My friend logged into her portal and it said she got admitted⊠20 mins later it went back to the regular portal without any decision. Must have been a glitch, but it completely told her that she had gotten in.
Did you login and see if it did it for yours?
i did not see it in my portal but i logged in a bit after her
Did your friend see the admitted major and the student id last month in the portal?
What details and verbiage did she see ?
Did she take a picture of it?
I agree that schools should pick a date they know they can meet, announce it very early, and just stick to it, even if they are ready weeks before. On the other hand, most of the schools my daughter has applied to are just like UTK with an estimated range like âlate Februaryâ and no confirmed date until the day of or day before. Also, we are waiting on some yet that will likely be a month later than UTK. Merit scholarships are another issue, for many students they cannot commit until that is known also. Meanwhile, they fall in love with schools that are earlier with their decisions so I think it is a disadvantage to later schools.

It is because you are too new to CC (light grey name).
For schools like ASU who accept at a 90%+ rate on a rolling basis the process is much easier. UTK has seen their acceptance rate last year and this year go from 70%+ to 30%+. A couple years ago they had problems with housing, (last year seemed ok) forcing them to reduce the number of incoming freshman last year. I suspect this year their acceptance formula ( some combo of SAT/ACT plus GPA) will be roughly the same as last year with lots of kids going on the waitlist - gives them a bit more wiggle room. If your child is on the waitlist, have them reach out to their counselor and let them know of their interest. Might be the thing that differentiates them from someone else. Lots more to say about UTK - my child is a freshman - mostly good. Good luck to all of you. Feel free to reach out with questions about UTK.
Based on the stats from EA and from last year, Iâm telling my OOS daughter (for next year) she needs at least a 1330 to be accepted early and 1300 to feel pretty safe in general for RD (marketing/PR/education as potential majors). She has a 4.0 honors AP and DE classes, excellent EC, but I think the SAT/ACT is how they differentiate between so many with the same other statsâŠ.maybe?!? Lol.
