University of Tennessee Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

My daughter might lose her mind or have a nervous breakdown if they don’t release decisions this week. So stressful for these kids to drag it out.

He actually decided against UTK
! But he is still a Business Analytics major and so far, so good.

If the applicants need to get all of their college application materials, recommendations etc turned in by a set deadline, the university should do whatever they can to follow through and have decisions to students by the date they gave. They have had months to make a decision and if they did delay…they shouldn’t wait until the last minute to notify students that they need more time.

All this is such a bad look on UTK. SRAR fiasco. Housing issues? Constant portal changes. Overall lack of communication.

For what it’s worth, Campus Tours are now back on the Events page for my D24. The Events column is still blank whereas last week we could sign up for the admitted tour.

Mine as well, and campus tours are back under events

Everything is all back for me as well, but was all still blank as of 20 minutes ago, so it just changed over!

Does anyone have the message about not signing up for the admitted tour still?

All these changes are bonkers already …

Where is that located?

It wasn’t freshmen, they moved transfer students into hotels. And I don’t think it was that many…

Utk rented out one hotel for transfer students. They supplied transportation and RA at the hotels. Not 5000 students.

If you look up UTK admitted student tours and click a date it was popping up a message for some people to not register and that they should take a prospective or big orange instead.

I do not

The housing situation is not an anomaly to UTK. Most schools I’ve applied to have had threads discussing housing problems in some regard. I am semi-leery of schools that don’t guarantee housing for at least freshman year. I don’t want to have to worry about finding an apartment in a new area and acclimating to college life all at the same time! I received an email from UTampa basically advising to put down my enrollment and housing deposit ASAP to secure on campus housing because it goes quickly and many freshman had to seek apartments which can be hard to do out of state without being able to really view anything besides pictures online.
Coastal Carolina, where my sister goes, had to rent a couple hotels for the past couple years for freshman because they’ve had record breaking amounts of students enrolling.

Yes. It happened to freshman as well. I know a girl this happened to, instate. The Tennessean ran a couple of articles on it but they are behind a paywall. They got slack from legislature as I recall and have taken steps to avoid that debacle again. I have been told by whom ever answered phones that freshman housing is pretty much guaranteed no matter when you sign up for it, but I am not sure if that is 100%. You have to pay an enroll fee to get into the housing lottery, and the sooner you pay, the sooner you get to choose via the lottery. I do wish the housing fee was separate from the enroll fee, however.
