This can’t be true … a month ?
That is completely false, they only have around 6900 freshman, it would make no sense if only 1900 of them could live in dorms and 5000 had to live in hotels. Two years ago my daughter was a freshman living in one of the older dorms and nobody was in a hotel that year. Last year they ran out of space for transfer students and took over a Holiday Inn I believe to house them, no freshman were in hotels. My daughter lives in a house now so I’m not completely up to date on this year’s freshman but i thought I heard they took over an apartment complex to put some kids in. They have plans for new student housing, not sure when they’re breaking ground on that and there are a couple new apartment complexes going up right next to campus that should be completed by fall term this year. Housing is expensive right next to campus, but there are many complexes across the river and a little farther out from campus that are much less and have busing to campus.
I sure hope not. It’s ridiculous
I agree with you ! Unless something is in writing , from UTK we should probably stop the false narratives . It’s going to drive us even crazier !
We have AO , slate ID and campus tours back today too.
the rumor is unfortunately true. i just called and they said they have received an extremely high number of applicants this year and for that reason the admissions team is backed up. the hope is that decisions release by the end of February but there is a chance decisions get pushed to early next week
That makes more sense than a month from now !
If the admissions team is “so backed up,” why don’t they just release decisions on a rolling basis? They can just do it in waves. Would make everyone’s life much easier.
I think that the decisions are going to be released tomorrow.
Source?
Imagine how easy it would be to simply put out an update email giving guidance to all parents/students on this issue. It would cut back on all of the calls, and give peace of mind to everyone.
I agree, and based on what I’m hearing the reality of it is that next week is the realistic time frame.
I called yesterday and spoke to an adult who said late February. I can’t see them dragging this into next week.
Right, but they probably are coming to the end of the month and realizing that there are still a good amount of applicants that need to be reviewed. They are probably coming to a realization that if they want to review everyone fairly they should probably push decisions into next week.
I am fine with waiting until next week if that means that they are able to give everyone a fair review. I would much rather wait a week then have them rush it.
Should we offer surge support from folks on this thread?
This morning campus tours, slate ID, counselor were back….just checked and gone again
Application status blank.
Soooooo over the waiting.
Are they all gone again now?
As much as I’d like to get my life back to a normal routine, I’d rather the Admissions team go into next week if they truly need that time to give every applicant a fair look. It’s too important.
(However, I reserve my right to mini rant if they do so)
Now they’re back. Been there and gone and back. Not looking again today! Lord have mercy. Ha!
I’m in the same boat!
