but we’re very thankful for the UP DUS @ PSU … given this top-notch UTK fake out…
-The admitted major showed up… the tour hack worked…today there was Big Orange Day listed…I mean , if my son had his heart set on UTK, today’s WL reply would have smashed it given all the fake tells…
-might sound like sour grapes, but UTK needs to fix their admission portal and secure the loose artifacts that leaked fake tells.

same… OOS from west coast, SoCal heading to Happy Valley … for now…DUS into UP feels really good given this top notch fake out by UTK. 2024 is a tough year to be an OOS applicant …given that our home state Big 10 quality UC’s and CSUs don’t offer much of a shot even with home field advantage…thank goodness my transferable Post 9/11 GI Bill makes OOS affordable.

It’s his path. Overseas travel is amazing. You’re only young once. Our kids know what’s best for them often times more than we do.

We are considering that option too! I suspect the waitlist moves at a decent clip starting mid March. Just depends on how many accept the waitlist.
We had 4 options too I just waitlisted her and did not choose any of the pathways
It looks like UTK just took a broad brush and waitlisted everybody which i do not have a problem with. But the manner in which all of this happened makes me think they did not even look at applications again after additional material was sent in.

Nope she got wait listed and I am glad because all others got waitlisted too. If she would have gotten in over other’s in the group who have higher stats and other stuff I would be ashamed.
Did you see anywhere at what point they start contacting students that chose the waitlist option? Is March true or are we looking at waiting until May, June, July?
OOS, offered Pathways. Letter had a typo in it.

Pathway done correctly is guaranteed admit to UTK down the road. Waitlist is a hit or miss and in most cases you would have committed some other place.

My concern with the pathway is figuring out housing. From what I can find, it appears that if you go the Rocky Top Transfer route you need to figure out your own off campus housing. Finding housing in Knox at this point is going to be hard-pressed. My daughter is also looking at going to community college as a slap in the face when she was accepted EA to other amazing schools. UTK’s lack of decision making is really a shame.

It’s no different than the pathway at Clemson where housing is an issue or the pathways program at a really great school like UF. And South Carolina has one and they definitely have a housing issue. I guess it just all depends on how much you want it. But if you’ve got other great options, then it’s not really a quandary. Congrats to your child on other great admits.

So do people actually get off the waitlist???
I personally feel that since UTK was most likely a safety for the MANY high stats kids they accepted, most of those kids will go with more “prestigious” or higher ranked options. Accepting only high stats kids does not automatically make UTK a high ranked university. I think they will have to pull a lot of kids off of the waitlist. Just a thought though!
