That’s a dangerous question on an open forum lol. In short, we are not very fond of Tallahassee, FSU or the surrounding elements. We just know too much about FSU, TCC and FAMU to send our child there. It was never an option, and also I’m not sure why its reputation has grown OOS. In state many kids favor UCF and USF over FSU. FSU has underachieved for decades, where as UCF/USF have passed them by in several areas in short time.

Maybe? I do wonder tho- from what I can tell, both personally and reading here, admissions were hard this year. I think there may be more high stats heading to their safeties or state options than in years past?
That’s actually a really good point. Anecdotally we know alot of very high stats kids going to their “safeties” this year. It makes it feel like data from even last year is already outdated.

You keep bashing FSU because your child was rejected there as they were at UF. I saw you in the FSU Early Action thread, and as a soon as the results came out you started complaining about them not being holistic. Your narrative does not match the Tallahassee or Gainesville (who you also bash) reality, and your constant negativity won’t change that.
There are millions of Floridians and you are not the authority on everything Florida. I too am from South Florida with a kid at FSU and an FIU alum kid. I’m also an FIU undergrad and law alum. My point is lots of great universities in Florida and tearing down ones your child didn’t get into won’t change that.
Move on and stop being so bitter.

UCF and USF applications and acceptance rates are not comparable to FSU. Nothing you claim match the facts. GPA/SAT/ACT are higher for FSU than those two. All great schools but UCF and USF are not nipping on FSU’s heels as you repeatedly suggests. Your bitterness is so obvious. You also call Gainesville a dump even though you’re complaining that UF should have accepted your child.

FSU ranked 53 nationally applications-76,600 applicants (the most in the state)
USF ranked 89 nationally
UCF ranked 124 nationally

This person admitted that their child had an SAT score about 100 points below the UF average. Still, they were outraged that their child didn’t get accepted to UF. The state of Florida was never test-optional. Right or wrong, and no matter what anyone else thinks of standardized test scores, the state leadership in Florida feels they a very important. It is a HUGE challenge for any applicant to get into any Top 30 school with an SAT score about 100 points below the average, even more so for a test-required institution. Most parents understand this.

For anyone on waitlist, have you wrote a continued interest letter to admissions?
We have not written to admissions. But we did get an email tonight asking if DS is still interested in staying on the waitlist. Did others get that email too?

Daughter EA OOS got a text to see if she was still interested. She replied yes and got a email saying keep an eye on your email.
