Hello. New here. Happy to find this group. I’m circling back to an old topic. I’m curious about those who experienced the portal glitches (briefly showing your child’s admitted major, Smokey Dog as counselor, AND was able to sign up for New Vol Admit Day). Did your child get waitlisted or rejected in the end? Or did everyone who experienced the glitches ultimately get in? Was the link to “New Vol Admit Day” in your child’s portal or was it out in the open for anyone to sign up? I apologize if this has been answered already. I’ve been digging thru this board for a while and not seeing any final outcomes of those who experienced the glitches. Thank you.
I agree that it probably doesn’t mean anything to specific students.
But it probably means they will be reaching out to the waitlist sooner rather than later. Makes no sense to update waitlist in Early April if you aren’t going to start pulling from it until May 1.
My OOS was accepted at OSU and TN (direct admit to Fishers and Haslam). He received scholarship offers from both schools. We just visited OSU this past Mon (visited TN last year). It is going to be a tough decision to make but I think he is definitely leaning towards TN. The rankings would appear to indicate that OSU is the better school but TN seems to be a better fit and vibe for him.

So sorry for the late reply, I don’t check the site much now that this process is over. Yes, we are at MPHS. Got a son that is a FR there too.
So sorry for late reply, haven’t checked the site recently. We did hear back but did not receive any additional offers. For us, it would’ve been nice (really nice, lol) to get more, but more of a “doesn’t hurt to ask” thing, I think her mind was already made up.
Almost certain she sent her letter to the admissions counselor, but not 100%. Feel like I probably replied too late for it to matter, but am happy to make sure if you’d like.

Any decisions made? I am fascinated by his choices - both great schools in very different settings.
Also a bit fascinated by the UF/UGA family (clearly a smart one), we lived in Jacksonville for 3-4 years after getting married and went to the Cocktail Party game annually. The fans didn’t seem to like each other much!
Any decisions Stella? We really enjoyed the VT campus too, obviously more rural than UTK but similar vibes.
Thanks. My student did send a letter saying we ned about $5k to put it on par with Ole Miss. They told us to try taking the SAT again to up the score. They continue to take new super scores through July 1 for additional merit.
We are also MPHS. He is leaning towards UTK, but really liked VT. Hoping to make a final decision by end of week.
We toured when we were there. The rooms we saw were nice, you share a room with another student. The building itself seemed nice, newer than some of the other dorms, and they have some nice sitting areas outside of it. On each hall, there is one shared bathroom, we weren’t able to go inside and look, but the tour guides told us that there were several shower stalls, and sinks. So it’s not a suite style where you get your own bathroom and sink that you share with 2 to 4 people. But it was nice dorm! It is a good walk to the engineering building, but not nearly as daunting as we thought it would be considering that this campus is very walkable. Hope that helps.

I got one as well! Is accepting the form binding, or it just reserves the spot, FAFSA is making it very difficult to make a decision.

I don’t think they can make a waitlist decision binding. You still have til May 1 or May 15 to choose

No, it should not binding. You are moving your name from the wait-list to the accepted list… and have until the UTK deadline to make a decision on that offer and enroll.
