Did the USPS Informed Delivery say it was coming from UTK? Just one more place I can start to obsess.

Hi Everyone -
I just signed up so I could send a reply to this forum. My son is a freshman at UTK in Haslam Business. We are now waiting just like all of you for the decisions to be released as my daughter has applied and UTK is her number 1 pick. Just to give you some information that happened last year. My son never had the 7th semester notation within his portal but many of his friends did. A couple of his friends had much higher SAT’s and GPA’s and unfortunately a handful of those kids were deferred. I am feeling pretty confident that is what will happen again this year and my daughter also has the 7th semester grade notation on her portal page. It appeared around the 5th of December. My daughters stats are no where near where my sons were, so we knew this was going to potentially be a long shot. I will say there really was no rhyme or reason when they admitted students last year, at least nothing that looked consistent at all. We are OOS.

Yes. portal changed and package waiting to be shipped from Knoxville in USPS. This is so crazy (and a nice distraction from work… 
)

Argh. Nothing in our informed delivery… And yet also no SRAR.
like Penn state sending out #PSUbound…“get ready to celebrate” then getting a deferral?..
these high priced universites really need to improve this process… let their own CS department develop a better working software… or just copy the UGA method… one day and advertised time for in state , one day for OOS… announced many days ahead of time … bam, everyone knows in seconds… model program…

Thanks for the info! You mentioned your son didn’t have the 7th semester grades message but his friends did. Were those friends admitted?

Does everyone’s 7th semester language ambiguously say to submit it “if you need to include them on your application” ?

We also have a Knoxville package listed as pre-shipment. in our USPS-informed delivery. Had to click on packages. Eek. Still not telling my daughter until we know for sure. Good luck to all.

No, the kids who had the 7th semester notating all were initially deferred. Later in February when the regular decisions came out all of them were either waitlisted or offered to apply for one year at an affiliate school and potentially transfer after one year.

How do you know you have a package waiting to be shipped?
USPS Informed Delivery…a marginally accurate service of the Postal Service to tease you into what mail may or may not ever show up on your doorstep.

If you have signed up for USPS Informed Delivery, you can go to your account and see packages that are on the way to your address. I didn’t see the Knoxville package when my daily USPS email arrived, but I logged into my account and see that it was generated this morning and is en route to the post office.
