Not to be a pest, but I wouldn’t really describe some of these schools as “fine “. Curious as to your choice of wording ?

Right after the original SRAR issue , we emailed our AO and provided our first semester grades that way to prevent any issues . We won’t have second semester grades for another two weeks or so after exams . Thoughts on thinking if that submittal of grades via email was sufficient ? We are high stats, OOS and were shocked with a deferral in the first place . Top 6 % of class, lots of leadership , EC, volunteerism etc

It means they have historically been fine schools: solid, if unspectacular. That description is not meant to be confrontational nor controversial. It’s a fact. I would throw many, many schools into that descriptor, including my alma mater.

I would go with solid over fine for some of these… either way, certainly agree they are the “it” schools and wish all of our students good luck at these awesome schools if they are hoping to attend . Good luck everyone!

just noticed same" MISC" line entry for today 01/24… we updated his SRAR a few days ago and there is also the mid year grades report sent in by his HS , also dated 01/24…
Us too the Transcript receipt shows and then a line for Misc
We updated SRAR and uploaded transcript on 1/21 and the portal shows receipt on 1/22. But no Misc entry under Materials Received. Hm.
interesting… I was going to ask someone to confirm MISC… could that be a scan of my HS sending in the mid year transcripts? like via Parchment?
My kid’s mid-year transcript was sent via Common App from the high school and we also show the MISC line too.

My daughter did update her common app with her coursework and GPA for Seventh grade and the transcript for 7 semester was sent by the school officially I see Transcript received with a date and a line for MISC which i assume something to do with Common APP and of course the SRAR updates show too. We also had a teacher send an academic recommendation to the school so the “Misc” could be that but earlier ones show the name Recommendation
we have MISC ; but no additional LORs… only SRAR and school’s mid year grade report were submtited

Anyone hear back from their counselor re: “Admitted major”… how about “Smokey Dog”?
OOS/ Haslam / Supply Chain Mgt… seeing the Admitted major and now waiting for a decision… Go VOLS!
So the theory is that they only release admission decisions on certain dates and times. But they cannot be updating information manually in the system for each student on the last day. Having said that if they update information earlier they still do not want to release the decision until the announced date because that would cause too much work to answer questions as students get their decisions. I believe UTK (at least when i was Graduate Student there) will update systems over a Friday evening to Sunday. My guess is the folks including my daughter 2 , who is Awaiting Decision, did see Smokey Dog as counselor "AND: had UTK Net ID, EMAIL … labels in addition to their SLATE ID but were not populated or in some cases were populated are students who already have been decided on and have been admitted but the decision will be posted in middle of February. Once the update was complete they probably switched it so that information is not visible. Hope that makes sense. For folks who did not see Smokey Dog as counselor either they did not check during update window or their application is still under consideration. Another big indicator is the background of the webpage turns to something more indicative of admitted student like it did for my daughter 1 who was admitted to Business in the first round. Hope that helps and this is just based on logically how things are done with these huge systems. Please do not consider this as absolute information. These are just my guesses. Only time can tell.

I doubt it, The High Schools all have an electronic method to transmit information to colleges
Either submit via a portal officially or Email official transcripts but they would say High School Transcript received. Maybe Common App also.

background difference and verbiage difference on my 2 daughters can be seen in the pics.
Over the weekend when Smokey Dog appeared i saw my daughters background turn to the one like accepted but it has since changed back. Also all additional lines gone. The top picture is for the one who has been admitted with a scholarship to School of Business. The bottom one is for my second daughter waiting decision now since Nov 2023 
When the background changed to one like accepted what did it look like? Did it says next stop Vols?

Have there been any marketing emails sent to anyone that was deferred in EA?
Parent from last year, FWIW, said all that were deferred from their area were ultimately denied. IDK if that applies to '2028 as well, and maybe someone else has more hopeful news from last year??
