UNOFFICIAL THREAD TO MAKE COMMENTS ABOUT NOT-SO-NEW CC SITE

edit window is 15 minutes.

You can’t edit the first post in a thread either.

@jym626‌

If I can’t edit it right now, could one of the mods extend the edit window for me? Or edit the post for me?

Short answer- NO

@OHMomof2‌ What you are experiencing in post <a href=“UNOFFICIAL THREAD TO MAKE COMMENTS ABOUT NOT-SO-NEW CC SITE - #235 by OHMomof2 - College Confidential Community - College Confidential Forums”>UNOFFICIAL THREAD TO MAKE COMMENTS ABOUT NOT-SO-NEW CC SITE - #235 by OHMomof2 - College Confidential Community - College Confidential Forums; is a caching issue. If you use CTRL + F5 to reload the page, it should be formatted correctly. Can you please try that and let us know if the issue is resolved for you?

Yes, @notrichenough…that is quite a difficult page to look at. Definitely need some padding.

@jym626…thanks for noting this. As one living in the stone age I have no smart phone on the premises. Let me alert our product manager to this. Thanks!

@jym626…is this still happening? Are you seeing this on mobile? I don’t see such behavior on a desktop.

UPDATE: Appears a fix is in the work for this. I was told it happens when your URL contains https:// instead of http://. Removing the “s” should correct this, but the fix will ensure you don’t need to worry about this much longer. Thanks!

@LasMa…you immediately took me back to The Brady Bunch. I can still hear Marcia Brady saying this.

@onlythebest13…as was pointed out, the current edit window for your own posts is 15 minutes. In some cases the mods can make requested edits after that window has passed, but typically only where sensitive information was shared. Instead of PMing mods you are probably better off reporting the post you want to edit.

Lol Lenitus.

Also, i want to add my thanks that you’re sticking around. You do have to walk a fine line.

At least we know the community pays attention to those announcements and it has generated a lot of discussion

By the way, for those who can’t handle the “post-ironic, uber-cool usage” there should be an “x” on the top right of the box that you can click to forever do away with it.

For the record, I’ve never used the term “hawwt” in my life, though I have used “uber” a few times recently. My German ancestors might be proud.

Thanks, Lenitus. I just ordered a new iphone, but still, even with a slightly larger screen, my fat fingers and old eyes will make it a continued challenge to tap on the right thing!!

And the dropdowns are back on one one line, though they are pretty sensitive and if one accidentally hovers over them for more than a brief moment they drop down and are HUGE.

lol- I clicked on that x and closed it before I read the whole thing. Just saw it was an announcement and closed it. Its gone forever??

Yeah, it’s close quarters on the top of the screen even with a full-size monitor, so I can imagine the challenge using an iPhone.

As for the announcement, once you click the “x” to close it you won’t see it again. Any new announcements would show up, of course, but you could also close those as well once you read them (or didn’t read them, as you mentioned).

I feel so deprived that I missed the “hawwwt”

When I came onto the site today, that issue with the college vibe pages was gone, FYI.

Good to hear. As @CCtech_David‌ mentioned earlier, it was likely due to page caching. Either way, glad to know it has cleared up for you. Thank you.

Off topic; i know this was discussed many moons ago but I can’t find it now. Why do we now address/refer to people using the “@” sign?

@LasMa - Using the “@” sign in front of a name will send an alert to that person that they’ve been mentioned. You would use this if you really wanted to ensure they see something that you posted. It is officially known as “tagging”. Kind of similar to what you do on Facebook when you tag someone in a post or photo.

It is certainly not a requirement of using CC, however
