It does for me.
I’ve mentioned in the past that the site host is employing some rather aggressive caching. It is intended to conserve resources, though it has resulted in some unexpected and rather random behaviors at times. When you are saying that the like button doesn’t work, is it simply that when you click on it nothing is registering? Have you ever tried going back to a post you tried to like earlier? I am just wondering if there is a delay in the like actually registering (which could be hours or longer potentially). We’ve seen delays in post counts updating as well, which does seem to be related to the site caching.
When there are new posts on a thread I’ve bookmarked, that thread no longer moves to the top of the bookmarks list.
That’s odd, as my bookmarks are currently ordered by most recent post.
Did this issue you describe start appearing today? Is the “most recent” post information still updating…even if the threads are not re-arranging themselves into chronological order by most recent post?
Are others seeing this as well?
It’s working for me.
It may be a thread with the fire symbol- when I can describe more, will.
Lenitus, at least, it is the “5 little known tips” thread, with a fire symbol, which sits way down on my Bookmarks list. Just a hassle, not a showstopper.
That fire symbol just means it was a featured thread. Do you have other threads in your bookmarks that are moving up as new posts appear? Have you tried flushing the browser cache (hit Ctrl and F5 at the same time)?
@notrichenough - thanks for the feedback. Do you have any threads in your bookmarks that are featured (i.e. have the fire symbol)? Just trying to figure out if something odd is happening with featured threads.
Thanks!
And still every evening we move backward to yesterday. Amazing!
@Lenitus - sorry, none of the threads in my bookmarks are featured threads.
Is there any way we can do something about the number of pinned and posted threads on the Financial Aid forum? They just take up so much space on that front page
@notrichenough - No problem. I’m still wondering if featured threads exhibit odd behavior when bookmarked.
@oldmom4896 - Who knew a wrinkle in the time-space continuum would be so difficult to fix??
@romanigypsyeyes - Thanks for noticing that. We can take a look to see what could be unpinned. I know we probably have ancient news still pinned (or showing as the latest featured thread) on some of the school-specific threads, too.
I can click the like button but the like button does not show the names of the people that have liked my post.
Okay @romanigypsyeyes…I cleaned up the pinned threads on the FA forum a bit. How does it look? I did my best to keep what I felt were the most relevant discussions pinned. Thanks!
@DrGoogle - I am able to see who has liked a post by hovering over “Like” (not clicking). Does that work for you at all? If not, are you on a mobile device (or tablet)?
Hovering does not give anything? I’m not on mobile device at all. It has been days, you fixed it once, it worked great and then it has since only been working intermittently.
I just hovered on the likes on a few of your posts and it brings it up without issue. I sound like a broken record asking this all of the time, but have you tried using another browser to observe if the behavior is the same?
Much better, thank you! It was just very cluttered.
I only have internet explorer.
@DrGoogle - I logged in with Internet Explorer and had no trouble seeing who had liked a particular post. This error seems to be account-specific, which is rather odd. No further ideas on this, but we’ll keep digging around.
@romanigypsyeyes - It was indeed cluttered. Should never have gotten to that point in the first place. Thanks again.
Lenitus, thanks for being so responsive. Even when you can’t personally fix something, i appreciate that you’re not just disappearing.
