CAP only allows direct admission into the College of Liberal Arts, and even at that the major isn’t guaranteed. For Biology, which is housed under CNS, you need to compete again to get both accepted into CNS and that major if you want to do CAP.
From the circles I’ve been talking to in school with those who were CAPed, many are looking to go elsewhere entirely and not try to transfer in. I will note that if you do try to transfer in NON-CAP, you’re going to have to reapply entirely (Transfer Admission - University of Texas Admissions).
In short, if you’re dead set on ending up at UT Austin, and willing to either give up your major and try your hand at switching majors internally, go for the CAP. However, considering how the CAP doesn’t give you a major, nor acceptance into the CNS school, I would look at 4-year institutions that you are fine attending with, and not trying to transfer to UT.
Hey admitted families! Are other parents out there waiting on the the final release of federal aid and scholarships prior to making a final decision. For example, Virginia Tech just told admitted families they have extended the time to make a decision to 15 May. I thought this was very interesting.
I called UT financial aid office last week and they told me the aid letters will come out in April. I really hope they extend students’ decision date too - I wish I asked about this.
Congratulations! Not sure about your college, for CNS, I was told I will receive the paper offer letter too, so I guess it (hopefully another packet?) will be in the mail too.
hi, does anyone know if getting accepted into engineering honors and getting a scholarship is time limited? like do I have to accept right away or do I still have to wait until may 1 to accept it? ut is my top choice, but I am still waiting to hear back from other schools
My honors offer letter states “You have until May 1, 2024 to respond to this offer in the MyStatus”
I guess it makes no sense to have an earlier due date for honors or scholarship acceptance. Because it is a useless promise of your acceptance if eventually you don’t accept the admission.
