Exactly. I don’t understand the wording on these. Makes it seem like it’s not a traditional deferral but a “we didn’t have enough time to review everyone’s apps” so you have to wait til 2/15. We got the same thing from UGA. Neither used the term DEFERRED.

I find it so strange that they haven’t sent an email. My son said so we wait. Wish I had his patience.
Yes, daughter applied to the LBJ School and got into the bachelor’s program. She is in-state and auto admit.

Has anyone heard that they made it to the next round of Forty Acres? They said that people would hear by mid-January if they made it to the next round. It is Jan. 15 and no word yet!
I do appreciate Kevin’s take on this, and all his advice in general. While I think he was dead wrong on his “no need to rush apply to TAMU” (he has since retracted that) I think he is generally very transparent and helpful with regard to UT stuff.

The final deadline for 40 Acres was just Jan 13 so I would NOT expect invites to the next round yet.

My kid got invited just last Thursday to have it submitted by Monday at 8 am. Very odd to be so last minute- but given what’s going on today, it seems to be the way …

Would you mind sharing your son’s stats? thanks
He is a national merit 1500 PSAT (perfect math), 3.9 unweighted, 5.2 weighted, 31 out of 862 students, 1510 SAT (perfect math). But if you are trying to find meaning in UT decisions you won’t. My older son (2022) had better stats than my current senior and didn’t get his major but got into Georgia Tech and full ride to A&M (Brown Scholar). They grow where they are planted and it works out I promise!

That’s true. My son in 2022 got zero love from UT. However, SMU threw everything at him. He went with the school that loved him, and he has had an incredible experience at SMU.
