There was a poll on reddit. Something similar to track and possibly analyze the results from today. Just a simple google form.

Congrats again!

Please update the poll above so that we have all the data in one spot instead of going through the whole thread for any sort of indications.
Thanks

This is just to share that Feb 15 decision date. It’s not an acceptance email.

Didn’t UT do what they said they were going to do

today???

Technically, yes, but when they have to defer 95% of their applicants, it appears like they’re not doing their job.

I wish UT was more like Texas A&M, adopting rolling admissions. First come, first serve. Early bird gets the worm…especially for auto-admits. Regardless, I’m happy to forget about them for a while.

My son: OOS, applied on 12/1 for RD.
Admitted today! I’m so surprised because he applied for RD and we weren’t expecting to hear back this early.

So for the deferred, is it possible UT will hand out acceptances/denials on any given day before Feb 15, or will they wait until Feb 15 and release all decisions at once?

I think it’s def possible since they’ve historically released decisions in waves. But obviously can’t say for sure, esp because this year is so different

How do we communicate extra academic achievement which is significant to the admissions committee?

“Deferred” would imply that an individual application was fully reviewed and the admission decision is neither reject or accept. The current situation is, “we haven’t finished our review yet - and need more time to complete.” The latter doesn’t offer the applicant any new information on the probability of their acceptance.
