UT Austin Class of 2029 Official Thread

How/where do you get to that link from the regular My status page and what is RIS? When mine goes there it shows the first choice major she’s applying to. Also curious what you learned from previous threads about all this

I’ve been reading through last years UT thread and this was a positive sign but it was much later so I don’t know if it means anything yet. Some auto kids major changed to their 3rd choice on RIS. The link is posted there.

This is the RIS page: https://utdirect.utexas.edu/registrar/ris.WBX
I guess this page gets populated just before the acceptance notification/email is sent out.

what is the RIS page? On the main MyStatus page it says " You’ve met our Early Action application deadline. We have all the items we need to make your admission decision. As soon as your decision is made, it will be posted on this page and you’ll be notified by e-mail."

I tried that too. Our RIS (registration information sheet entered from the my.utexas.edu page) goes to “bad data” and the “what i owe” is $0 and still no access to staff/student directory. Some reported all those things populated or could be accessed last year a few hours or days before the major acceptance. This is supposedly a “new MyStatus” page now, not the “legacy MyStatus” from last year so who knows if they fixed the glitch. Our honors app is in review now too. Only like 105 more days now til January 15 :woman_facepalming:

The one link posted went to bad data but the other on didn’t but still had a link taking us back to “my status” calling it the new “my status” so thinking this old page just listed the major in that manner.

I know UT is doing things differently this year but is there any chance decisions will come out before Jan 15th? I have no clue how they have done it historically.

I hope so but i suspect if they do it will be for superhigh stats kids they want to get before the ED/REA accepts come out and those kids are basically committed at that point because they went ED/REA. If they get told before Dec 1 (or whatever the date is) they can cancel their ED/REA app and commit to UT. The past early waves seemed to be not just auto but all kids who were super high stats, not many. But who knows they seem to do things their own way and change stuff when they want (like EA and the waitlist this year).

This link shows bad data for me as well, but the former link I posted still shows the old RIS page.

If I go to that link it just says the 1st choice major he asked for and the 2nd choice too under it

Ok, I really don’t know if there is a rhyme or reason. It only list my son’s first choice. I just know on the other thread it was an indicator but that was in January. lol. I was just curious what others had.

You mean if I go to the link from your post #160? If i hit that it says DASHBOARD TAB: Fall Freshman 2025 and then under that FIRST CHOICE MAJOR: xyz (his first choice).

If I click VIEW DETAILS it brings up the ADMISSIONS TAB: Your New MyStatus Portal and there to the right in like the 20% of the screen on the right it list his 1st choice and 2nd choice under Fall2025.

Last year’s autoadmits all got the ACCEPT and $$$ enrollment fee in their checklists and in WHAT I OWE. I dont see those. I think they have modified stuff in the “new MyStatus”…who knows.

We just got all our green check marks today-- does it take a few days to see “your application is in review” and then “you have met the EA deadline”?

Yes a few days….end of one week to end of the next basically.

Have any of you had trouble applying for housing? Everything has been marked complete in MyStatus (for 2 weeks at least) with all green check marks, but I am still getting redirected to UT Service Desk when I try to login to the Housing Portal. Is this normal?

You dont have a on ramps or ut high school kid who may have had a prior UT EID do you? If any transcript/test score/piece to the application got assigned to the old id and not the new id, I have heard that can put the housing portal access in limbo.

Or maybe they are just backed up assessing transcripts because of the EA deadline. Two weeks is bit long though.

This kid is not on ramps or UT high school, but I do have three other kids who’ve been at UT and have UT EIDs (although their initials are different - is that significant?). I haven’t ever had to wait this long to apply for housing, so it just seems weird. I reached out to UT Service Desk, and they sent me to Admissions. Admissions says we should be able to apply for housing. So I asked Housing, and they said it was normal and, “It often takes much longer than 2 weeks for the admissions office to finish processing your materials. There is no major rush, and I would just advise submitting a housing application by the end of December…” I do not like this answer lol
I am curious if others are waiting, too?

Did you get an email about applying for housing or has that not even been sent out yet? Mine submitted her app the weekend of 9/21, and by that Wednesday had applied for housing. She is in on ramps and having a new ID didn’t impact being able to apply for housing. So it does seem weird that you’re having to wait so long.

I am not sure. We sent everything we could end of June/beginning of July and submitted the application 8/1 so when the portal finally opened it had been complete for several weeks already. If your documents list and check list show everything complete/green check marks maybe they are just backed up…but I would keep an eye and screenshots and next time I communicate with housing I would be showing the timeline since complete in admission’s world and not-yet-complete in housing’s world.

Thank you guys. I think I will just wait, but it is weird that this forum isn’t full of people who can’t apply for housing. One would think if there was a significant back-up, then I wouldn’t be the only one posting. We haven’t gotten an email yet to apply for housing, but everything shows received with a green check mark as of 9/18 for all docs/application and then 9/20 for the fee received. Hopefully all is ok…

We applied on the 29th and got the housing email on the 2nd. You might want to check your spam folder to see if the email ended there.
