While We Were Sleeping - Upgrade

So. I went into the profile and it looks like my only choices are no notifications or be spammed. Can I no longer set frequency? No daily feed?

I do not like change. This will take getting use to. But we will. :)

Getting more used to things. If being here is a good thing for you, then give the site time to iron out issues. I feel like since this morning I’ve managed to figure some things out and its workable.

My number one “needs work” is the white and the font size.

I love you guys and want to support CC in any way i can…that said, I’m really having a hard time reading the message boards…my eyes tire after 5 or 10 minutes…that is a BIG change from how it was before…i could speed hours :)…I also miss the denseness of the page the closeness of the messages…it truly felt like a conversation…now there is so much white space between & around each message that I feel like the posts are not connected to each other. It’s kind of a bummer.

I am having a problem too where sometiemes the post box won’t scroll down, even though there is text under there. If I am typing a long message and scroll up to reread I can’t always get back down again. I have to type posts into word and then paste them in order to reliably be able to scroll all the way up and down and see what I am typing.

ETA: When I open the site now in my phone’s browser, it automatically opens in what appears to be some sort of mobile site that doesn’t work. I hated the mobile site when it did work, because it didn’t work well on my phone, but I can’t figure out how to go back to the browser version. I only ever use the browser version whether I am on my PC or my phone. Is there a way to do that?

I am, as well, getting accustomed to this “new” CC. It’s different. CC will never be the same. gasp But I can see myself getting familiar with this.

The change has, however, made me not go on as often.

Ok, maybe this is addressed somewhere but I can’t get CC on my Android phone. I get a message that says the community is currently not available on Tapatalk. So is there a way to get CC now?

Yes…the mobile application has been disabled…and apparently is a priority to get fixed. This is happening on the iPad application as well.

Ok, thanks Thumper~

New software? This isn’t vBulletin 5?

HELP. How do I turn off email notifications when I reply to a thread on CC? I replied to this post earlier today and my inbox is now filled with email notifications about this thread.

I will have to leave CC if I can’t get the notifications turned off ASAP.

Absolutely do NOT like the “upgrade”. I’d really like to know why the change was thought necessary, and the thumbs up button doesn’t seem to be a good fit for this type of site. The thing that may make me stay away though is the screen color- I always reverted to the original coloration on the site, and the blinding white is hard to look at and the print size too small. Others seem to agree so let’s see if the powers that be will retool and make some changes/options.

Go to your settings. Icon is in the upper right corner on the ipad browser.

I was responding to, “how to unselect notifications”.

Thank you Emerald. I think I just figured it out. Fingers crossed!!

I do like having avatars, in the interest of saying something positive. I wish they were more like 100x100, just a teeny bit bigger, but I may be in the minority there. I do also agree that the usernames should be a bit bigger and more prominent, however. I like the like button and the helpful button. I don’t mind the facebook button, I don’t think it makes the site any less private than it was before. The white isn’t bothering me very much… the spacing is, but that’s an easy fix and it seems like it will be fixed. I think a few simple tweaks would make it a lot more readable, like making the usernames bigger and adjusting the spacing.

@3togo, when you click on a thread title it will take you directly to the new posts since you last checked the thread. S don’t click a page number, Just click the thread title.

What’s to prevent someone from using an offensive photo as an avatar? I can easily imagine some kid doing that. I thought that was why the avatar feature was unavailable with the old software.

Addendum to my previous post, #oh-yeah-there-are-no- post-numbers: I am typing blind right nbexause the college confidential banner at the top of my iPhone just slammed down from God knows where and covered up this post, so forgive me for all the mistakes.

Also, ifCC does not make it possible to jump to the end of a thread even before you have posted anything or have ever read it, that will be the end if me on CC. I sort of get that you have made it possible, going forward, to go to where ever you last were, but I am following some threads that have had hundreds of posts and 25+ pages. There is no chance that I am taking the time to scroll to the end of a long thread that started long before this change.

If someone posts an offensive avatar , just report it - just like you would report an offensive post.

Lets give the mods a little credit to make some good decisions. *-
